General Summary
The Integrated Turnkey Process Engineer is responsible for the design and functionality of the overall facility process design, ensuring the process simulation appropriately incorporates all required internal product lines, 3rd party technologies, and BOP components, beginning with the initial conceptual design through successful performance test.
This position is for an individual with 15 or more years in the industry with a strong understanding of various gas processing technologies, including Cryogenic Processes, Fractionation, Gas Dehydration, Gas Sweetening, liquid handling, and the associated utilities for CO2, natural gas, and other process fluids.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities
The Integrated Turnkey Process Engineer owns the overall process design beginning with coordination with ITK business development or handoff from another Enerflex product line for the initial conceptual design, through the complete facility simulation development and detail engineering, ensuring the integrated facility ultimately performs as designed.
Proposal Support:
  • Coordinate with sales and business development to convey client RFQ/project needs into a conceptual design
  • For brownfield facilities, perform site visits, participate in constructability reviews, and consider tie-points and overall facility geography in relation to the design placement
  • Interface with Enerflex’ Engineered Systems teams for proposal support for associated product lines
  • Provide certain technical details for development of the RFQ package to 3rd parties, and review quotations for compliance with design intent and performance
  • Provide preliminary sizing of major BOP equipment
  • Assist with the development of preliminary PFD, P&IDs, Plot Plans, equipment lists
  • Produce process descriptions and proposal inputs Project Award and Execution:
  • Interface with Application Engineers of other Departments to incorporate the equipment design
  • Work with Designers and other Engineers to develop all Process Engineering deliverables and support other deliverables with technical input
  • Evaluate the design and performance of the proposed equipment base on customer specifications; ensure deliverability and reliability of suppliers to meet Customer’s specifications and timetable
  • Review scope definition and project specifications
  • Perform preliminary equipment sizing (vessel, tanks, flare, etc.), line sizing, control valves and PSV valve sizing
  • Participate in and lead certain design reviews
  • Participate in client clarification meetings as required.
  • Develop the facility process design, selection of technologies, and equipment optimization to be aligned with the schedule, financial, and contractual goals of the project.
  • Review, respond to, and approve construction related changes and clarifications with the potential to impact the facility performance.
  • Review and approve vendor documentation to ensure compliance with facility design and performance requirements.
  • Assist commissioning teams with the development of the performance testing procedures and parameters.
  • Site visits to provide support during commissioning and start-up, participate in facility PSSR, and be available to assist with performance testing support.

Additional Responsibilities
:

  • Assist with the development of departmental standard designs, engineering standards, and design procedures.

Job Specifications
  • BS in Chemical Engineering or equivalent with direct work experience. Chemical Engineering degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred.
  • Must be committed to continual learning, staying abreast with new technologies.
  • Proficient in developing simulations in HYSYS or ProMax.
  • Expert knowledge of gas compression and process equipment is required for success in this role.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills,
  • Strong self starter skills and ability to perform successfully with limited supervision.
  • Ability to coordinate inputs from multiple sources and integrate into a complete, cohesive facility design. Strong computer skills, proficient with Microsoft office suite of programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to work closely in a team environment with all internal / external stakeholders.
  • Capable and comfortable communicating with customers, contractors, and management teams.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to perform successfully with limited supervision.
  • EPC Project experience along with exposure to fabrication facilities is preferred.

Working Conditions

  • Fast-paced general office environment. Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity.
  • Domestic and international travel is possible on occasion.
  • May be exposed to confidential information.
  • Frequently required to work non-standard hours including holidays, evenings, and weekends.
