SENIOR NETWORK / SYSTEM ENGINEER

Location: Sunnyvale, CA.

Duration: 6 Month + possible CTH

Matchpointe Group, Inc is seeking a Senior Network/System Engineer to work for us supporting Government City client to enhance the City’s Infrastructure Services Division, managing server and storage platforms, network infrastructure, VoIP system, desktops and laptops, emergency and non- emergency radios, and operating systems for all hardware, desktop applications and email. The ideal candidate will work as a senior member of the Network Engineering Team and will perform a variety of network support functions for the department, such as troubleshooting routing and switching problems, network hardware replacement and IOS updates, monitor network and recommend/implement network enhancements, and ensure network up-time and optimization.

This is a six-month assignment, fully on-site (no remote work) at the City’s offices in downtown Sunnyvale, CA. There is a possibility for this position to convert to a term-limited position with the City for an additional three years.

Required Skills/Experience

• Minimum 5 - 7 years network/system engineering.

• Current CCNP

• Network design and troubleshooting

• Principles and practices of ITSM (IT Service Management) systems to include incident/problem management; request fulfilment; knowledgebase; asset management and IT service catalogs.

• Network traffic and performance parameters, understanding telecommunications theory and practice.

• Methods and procedures of systems administration and security and integrity maintenance.

• Connectivity, system integration, and network design.

• Structure development, features, and access including configurations protocol and interfacing.

• Current developments and trends of network technologies and server/data storage technologies.

• Principles and methods of system and storage capacity, physical, virtual and cloud-based Local Area Network wiring and distribution methods.

• Wide Areas Networking Connectivity utilizing T1, T3 and fiber backbone transports.

• Advanced cybersecurity practices and procedures.

• Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and Microsoft Visio.

Additional Skills/Experience

• Communicate effectively, written/verbal; translate between technical and non-technical terms.

• Respond to cybersecurity issues and remediate in a timely manner as instructed.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $70.00 - $90.00 per hour
