Software Resources has an immediate, contract to hire job opportunity for an IT Specialist III Mid Level Network Analyst, on-site with a major organization in Orlando, FL.

JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for network analysis and design, technical assistance, and project management of data communications by performing the following duties.

The primary network technology used is Cisco IOS. Knowledge of Aruba and Juniper network platforms would be a plus but is not required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans and designs hardware/software network configurations. Oversees the installation, modification, and/or removal of data network planning and design activities.
  • Identifies, resolves, and completes complex tasks and work assignments based on level of importance in a timely manner.
  • Mentors team members on best practices within their area of expertise.
  • Provides recommendations on technologies used by the Agency.
  • Reviews annual network contracts (i.e. Cisco SMARTnet, Aruba Networks)
  • Provides technical expertise and administrative documentation to support the availability and integrity of the network.
  • Performs capacity planning functions by identifying, forecasting, and reporting network data in order to improve network utilization and resources.
  • Provides technical guidance to other county organizations and local municipalities that may connect to the agency network.
  • Establishes or provides modifications to the Network Standards for the agency. Defines functional and technical specifications.
  • Coordinates with vendors for voice and data cabling within the agency.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) AND three (3) years of network configuration experience; OR a Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field AND two (2) years of network configuration experience on Cisco IOS devices. Juniper and/or Palo Alto experience preferred but not required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must have a valid Florida driver's license. Must attend and successfully complete the agency sponsored Law Enforcement Vehicle Operations (LEVO) Training if assignment includes driving an agency vehicle. Use of agency vehicle would require appropriate driving history and passing agency biennial driver's physical exam. Depending on assignment, may be required to be FCIC/NCIC certified within one (1) year of accepting position. Cisco, CCNA, or CCNP certification preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Must be able to comprehend and communicate fluently in verbal and written English. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, and financial reports. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from citizens, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management and other employees. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Must have the ability to use creative and original thinking. Must also have ability to use judgment and discretion. Ability to focus and complete assignments in a timely manner. Ability to meet with stakeholders to identify business objectives and requirements and translate them into an acceptable technology solution that is cost effective and consistent with agency policy. Must have advanced computer skills and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office. Must also have advanced skills in one or more of the following: development tools, server administration tools, or network security administration tools.
