The Collegiate Clinical Nurse (RN) is a graduate of a registered nursing program who holds a valid registered nursing license from the California Board of Registered Nurses. He/she works within the scope of practice of a novice registered nurse under the supervision of a registered nurse clinical preceptor.

The Collegiate Clinical Nurse (RN) has the responsibility, accountability, and the authority to deliver safe, effective, quality, excellent nursing care according to the philosophy and goals/objectives of the Department of Nursing. The RN, utilizing Jean Watson’s Theory of Caring Relationship Based Care, and NorthBay’s professional nursing practice model assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care for all patients assigned to his/her care. The RN makes determinations regarding the progress of the patient toward goals and utilizes a therapeutic professional relationship with the patient/family and interdisciplinary team to facilitate the promotion, maintenance, and restoration of health. Care is provided according to the specific physiologic, developmental and psychosocial needs of the patient. Supports the mission, vision, values and expectation of excellence of the organization.

Education:

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional registered nursing, ADN required.
• Must be enrolled in a BSN or MSN program at the time of hire and must be completed within 24 months of hire into the Collegiate Clinical Nurse position.

Licensure:

• Valid and current RN license by the State of California.
• Current BLS AHA for Healthcare Providers.

• ACLS required
• TNCC certification once in a nursing career (must show proof if taken prior to coming to NorthBay Healthcare) or within 18 months of the date of hire.

Experience:

• A minimum of six months of acute care nursing experience is required.
• Minimum 1 year of Intensive Care nursing experience preferred.
• Demonstrates competence including but not limited to arrhythmia Interpretation, advanced patient assessment, advanced airway management and ventilator care.
• Proficient written, verbal, and electronic communication skills.
• Demonstrate performance by adhering to established policies and procedures and exhibiting the defined characteristics associated with attendance and punctuality.
