Mandatory COVID-19 guideline:

As of March 15th, 2022, all onsite JSH employees must have received the necessary doses to complete the COVID-19 vaccine series (i.e., one dose of a single-dose vaccine or all doses of a multiple vaccine series) or have been granted a qualifying exemption, or are identified as having a temporary delay as recommended by the CDC. New hires also will be required to comply with this requirement before working onsite at any JSH facility.

Responsible for overseeing month-end closing in accordance with general accepted accounting principles and the Hospital’s accounting policies. The Senior Accountant will exercise independent judgement and must demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills. Responsibilities include monitoring of all accounting systems, including the General Ledger, Fixed Assets, and other external accounting and financial systems used. Duties include analyzing and reconciling accounts, reviewing revenue reports, preparing financial statements, and analyzing profit and loss statements. Assists Controller with special projects and ad hoc reports and provides support for information requested by other departments. Job duties also include all other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures accounting duties are performed in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and with hospital accounting policies.
  • Prepares journal entries.
  • Oversees month-end financial closing process including financial statement preparation.
  • Analyze and reconcile data posted in General Ledger for accuracy and integrity.
  • Creates budget variance analysis and provides feedback.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis.
  • Prepares bank account reconciliations.
  • Prepares FTE reports.
  • Prepares Quarterly 941, Annual W-2, and Annual 1099 reconciliations and filings.
  • Assist in the coordination and preparation for year-end audits by independent accountants.
  • Assist in year-end Medicare and Medicaid cost reporting and year-end tax reporting.
  • Assists in the annual budget process.
  • Performs ad-hoc and other analysis as requested.
  • Provide support and backup to accounts payable and payroll as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum 5+ year’s relevant accounting and/or financial analysis experience required.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Prior use of accounting software.
  • Experience with report creation is a plus.
  • Demonstrated leadership knowledge and skills, good interpersonal skills, ability to handle a complex assortment of tasks in an organized manner.
