BROAD FUNCTION:

Main responsibilities include the preparation of the monthly financial statements for various Oswego Health entities


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Preparation of the monthly financial statements for Oswego Health affiliates as assigned including analysis of balance sheet and statement of operations variances to budget
  • Delegation of appropriate tasks to accounting clerk(s) or staff accountant(s)
  • Preparation of account reconciliations on a monthly basis.
  • Review account reconciliations completed by accounting clerk(s) or staff accountant(s)
  • Participation in the annual budget process
  • Participation in the annual external audit process
  • Handle inquiries from department directors
  • Maintain current knowledge of accounting practices
  • Assesses internal controls and provides feedback to Controller as necessary
  • Preparation of federal and state tax returns
  • Perform special projects as assigned by the Controller
  • Identify accounting systems enhancements and recommend improvements in systems and internal controls.
  • Comply with hospital, State and Federal governmental rules and regulations, policies and procedures, and related reporting requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Use discretion and independent judgment to develop and maintain financial management system documentation and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in accounting. Three years or more of accounting experience. Working knowledge of GAAP Strong financial analysis skills. Proficient in Microsoft Excel. Strong communications skills and ability to work in a team environment
