POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Robotic Machining Lead (RML) is responsible for leading a team of robotic machining specialists in machining a variety of materials to particular specifications. The RML serves as the primary go-to for operational problem-solving relating to machining and will be the primary liaison to other departments, managers, and executives. This person will promote an environment that achieves optimal levels of safety, quality, productivity, and delivery that ensure internal and external customer satisfaction. SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Lead all aspects of the robotic machining process, speaking into process efficiency, safety, hardware issues, and personnel matters.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain a team of robotic machining specialists.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with robotic machining specialists.
  • Program and simulate robotic machining toolpaths using Powermill or equivalent software.
  • Train robotic machining specialists to use Powermill as appropriate and to use the robots and related hardware efficiently and effectively.
  • Meet with leadership, supervisor, and other coworkers as appropriate to proactively provide relevant data useful for decision-making.
  • Accompany robots during production cycles and perform ongoing quality control inspections, both structural and aesthetic.
  • Maintain all tooling and equipment in proper operational condition.
  • Report and seek resolution to any safety, quality, productivity, or maintenance issues promptly through upline supervisors and online information management tools.
  • Participate in company-wide continuous improvement efforts and lean initiatives.
  • Drive continuous improvement in the department, and coach robotic machining specialists in the same.
  • Employ proper calibration and registration techniques to process large parts on a machining platform according to specifications.
  • Understand the functionality of the robot teach pendant.
  • Ensure work cells always function safely and that safety devices are operational.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCES:

  • High school diploma
  • Minimum of 4 years in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum of 2 years experience with CAD/CAM software
  • Minimum of 2 years experience with CNC or robotic machining
  • Intimate knowledge of Powermill and its use in a robotic machining environment
  • Familiarity with office software applications (e.g. Google Apps, Microsoft Office)

PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCES:

  • Experience with offline programming using Delcam, Robot Master, or related robotic machining CAM software
  • Certifications and/or education related to machining and robotics
  • Experience in a high-volume production environment with industrial robots
  • Experience running 5-axis gantry-style CNC machines

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
