SCK Health is looking for a talented Respiratory Therapist to join our team!

Description:

  • In-service training as needed.
  • Performing Pulmonary Functions Studies (if qualified).
  • Evaluating and ordering of equipment and supplies for the Respiratory Therapy Department.
  • Follows all departmental policies and procedures.
  • Participates in the QI program.
  • Administration of Small Volume Nebulizer, CPT/PD and Percussion, Incentive Spirometry, Oxygen, Pulse Oximetry, Suctioning and all applicable respiratory procedures as requested by a physician for all age groups.
  • Daily maintenance of humidifiers, ventilators, croup tents, Bi-Baps, etc and the recording of oxygen usage for charging purposes.
  • Maintains and documents appropriately in the patient record.
  • The administration of medicines in Small Volume Nebulizer treatments and the evaluation of patients on the basis of their therapy.
  • Recording usage of equipment, drugs, and other supplies pertaining to the Respiratory Therapy Department.
  • Making available oxygen cylinders and regulator units to the floor when the wall units cannot be used.
  • Sterilization/disinfecting and operation of all Respiratory equipment.
  • Availability of 24-hour coverage of “on Call” personnel when necessary for Respiratory care (should be minimal due to 24 hour coverage).
  • Responsibility during Emergency or Code Blues for availability of oxygen resuscitators and equipment for management of the patients’ respiratory status, for all age groups.
  • Maintaining of emergency Oxygen supplies on each floor.
  • Special care for the intubated and tracheotomy patients including the use of humidifiers, T-tubes, ventilators, and the intensive care required by this special patient.
  • To know and observe all hospital and department policies.
  • Is responsible for maintaining secure and patent patient airway to include performing nasal, nasotracheal, endotracheal, and oral suctioning.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocol
  • Respond to all Code Reds in Emergency Department with respiratory responsibility being airway management and collecting EKG.

Qualifications:

Education: Graduate of an AMA approved Respiratory Care Program or the equivalent.

License: Licensed with the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts.

Certifications: RRT, BLS, NRP, ACLS, PALS

Experience: Minimum of one year.

Other: Dependable, organized, emotionally mature, good physical condition, show interest in ALL aspects of job.
