Resident Engineer - Pump Stations

STV is a nationally recognized leader for delivering value and excellence in construction management, engineering, architecture, planning and environmental services, and is seeking a Resident Engineer with wastewater or clean water pump station experience to be based in New York, NY or White Plains, NY with project assignments in any of the five boroughs.

Key responsibilities will include managing construction sites in New York City related to pump stations or other water or wastewater facilities (pump station experience a must). The resident engineer should be a self-starter, capable of working independently and capable of developing construction reports analyzing schedules, costs, risks, construction progress and permitting needs. The candidate should have a strong working knowledge of concrete and pile construction, special inspections in New York City, wastewater processing, transmission and instrumentation & control and Environmental Health and Safety on construction sites.

The candidate should have experience working with other City Agencies such as the Department of Buildings (DOB), Department of Transportation (NYC DOT) and the Fire Department of New York City (FDNY). The resident engineer will direct a staff of office engineers, inspectors and technical assistants to achieve the goal of a safe project delivery, on-time and on-budget and of high quality. A good understanding of a projects contract terms and conditions is expected. As the resident engineer, the applicant will be responsible for organizing cross-functional activities, for coordination of project activities for the completion of the project (i.e., project controls, project deliverables, schedule and budget). Schedules and monitors staffing requirements against the project budget/spending performance, including managing activities related to project scope and scope creep, schedule, cost, cash flow, communications, coordination, manpower, discipline requirements, resources, procurement, and risk elements required to optimize client service, quality, and fiscal responsibility. As resident engineer, the applicant will be the primary contact with the Construction Contractor and responsible for letter writing, communication and conflict resolution.

NYCDEP experience is preferred.

Required Skills:

  • The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, civil, chemical, electrical, environmental) or a related field and 11 years of experience.
  • Must have a valid professional engineers license in New York State, or capable of obtaining one within the next 3 months.
  • Formal training in construction management is preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills a must.
  • Experience with Primavera or other scheduling software a plus.
  • Experience with e-builderâ„¢ a plus.
  • ENV SP Certification a plus.
  • Advanced degree in engineering or engineering related sciences a plus.
