The Regional Process Engineer position is responsible for collaborating with Engineering, Manufacturing, Technical Services and other staff to understand and increase manufacturing capabilities, increase yields, improve process flow, increase productivity and maximize work force utilization. This position is essential to strengthen our cost position by managing all aspects of strategically significant and technically complex improvement projects within existing manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a coach to develop the capability of all site base process engineers across appetizers
  • Partner with MDI team to build capability and rigor for the process centerline DMS and ensure consistent implementation across all appetizer locations (Includes master rate methodology and rate/reliability relationships)
  • Identify key yield improvement projects, leads cross functional teams to execute complex projects that have a substantial impact on business operations, utilizing structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Track project status and results, providing reports to stakeholders.
  • Remove and elevate project barriers, as well as develops and implements recovery plans for off schedule and unanticipated events.
  • In conjunction with Corporate Engineering and Technical Services, identify process improvement opportunities, build business cases, and launch project teams using good project management to oversee team activities.
  • Identify and propagate Best Practices for the business, through benchmarking and networking with Process Engineers at other organizations/companies and within the organization.
  • Effectively communicate with all levels to maintain relationships and cooperation in pursuing the Business unit's goals. Must be able to influence, negotiate, and resolve conflicts to reach consensus around common goals.
  • Act as a technical resource for statistical analysis tools/methodology, project management, Lean Six Sigma, quality and basic financial principles and apply them to analyze the planned activities.
  • Lead fundamental understanding projects with operations process owners, drives process control of the inputs as part of the Process Control System
  • Execute and Sustain high-impact process control initiatives by working closely with all plant quality leaders and process engineers.
  • Identify/prioritize process capability issues and collaborate with regional engineering and tech services to assist capital planning and successful execution
  • Liaise with field department in getting ‘right raw for right SKU” for each production cycle and ensure proper raw quality management practices in both onion facilities
  • Point of Contact for all product/process/specification changes coming to the appetizer business and coordinate with respective teams to ensure winning results
  • Champion Real Time Management (RTM) processes in both facilities for effective management of key operational cost metrics through visibility and engagement
  • Continuously review plant recovery performance and challenge/help production team members on realizing potential cost opportunities
  • Act as a strong change agent to lead and sustain continuous improvement initiatives and develop CI capabilities within both plants.
  • Apply statistical methods and analysis to help identify cost opportunities to meet and exceed SCA goals
  • Serve as a gate keeper for BOPs in both facilities to ensure BOP implementation and sustainment.
  • Be flexible to take on new initiatives and support team members to address immediate regional priorities.

This position reports directly into the Regional Manufacturing Director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • University degree in Engineering, Food Science, or related field with a minimum 5 years of food manufacturing experience including Quality/Production/Continuous Improvement roles.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using statistical methods and applying practical problem solving skills
  • Strong change management skills with proven record of execution and sustainment
  • Effective project management skills with ability to manage multiple initiatives at the same time to meet priority across appetizer manufacturing

Leadership Abilities:

  • Ability to build strong relationships and support plant teams through a collaborative approach.
  • Ability to influence effective decision-making with cross-functional teams.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to interface successfully with others representing diverse styles and cultures
  • Ability to coach team members and lead them towards positive change

Technical Capabilities:

  • Strong technical orientation and can quickly gain credibility across the plant
  • Experience in training and facilitation with strong root cause analysis skills
  • Knowledge of processing equipment, processing methods, manufacturing philosophies, BOPs and basic manufacturing SOPs
  • Expertise in the validation of the feasibility and effectiveness of new technologies
  • Proficient in JMP (Statistical Software), Infinity (Quality Information System), and SAP
  • Expert in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Requires regular travel across all NOAM locations
