DESCRIPTION:

The Quantitative Research Fellow will support the Finance Business Partners in multiple functions to financially evaluate business decisions ranging from business development, project management, acquisitions & joint ventures, business performance, benchmarking, and other functions as demanded. Various metrics are used in evaluating opportunities and performance such as ROI, NPV, PI, Payback, Revenue Growth, Profit Margins, Cash Flow, etc. The role is responsible for evaluating strategic opportunities by modeling financial impact in measurable terms and detailed assumptions and forecasts.

The duties of this individual revolve around analyzing financial information to come up with forecasts for a business and help it make informed and correct decisions as well as identify and implement process improvements.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and maintain standard and ad-hoc financial modeling tools including dashboards and visualizations to support strategic and project decision making process by the top leadership
  • Develop economic models used for project financing, business development, and commercial negotiations
  • Conduct rigorous research to identify opportunities to improve existing models and processes. Conduct backtesting and performance analysis of models to evaluate effectiveness.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, machine learning, and AI to make existing processes more efficient and accurate.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements and cost-saving initiatives. Develop useful time-saving tools to streamline existing processes.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellency with Microsoft Excel including formula utilization, graphic modeling, and decision analysis including risk profile (S curves) and sensitivities (tornado diagrams). Familiarity with decision analysis tools like Crystal Ball are a plus.
  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Decision Analysis, Statistics or similar majors
  • Proven work experience in a quantitative and analytical role in a project-based environment
  • Comfort working with large amounts of data to drive decision-making

PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCES:

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication skills to work with and present to senior executives
  • Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives and be accountable for results with little supervision
  • Comfort dealing with ambiguity and the ability to quickly adapt to constantly changing demands, priorities, and market environments
  • Good business acumen
  • Familiarity with data query/data management tools is helpful (Access, SQL, Business Objects, R, a Python)

TRAVEL EXPECTATIONS: Minimal travel (<10%)
