Job Description

The Tucson Proving Ground (TPG) takes pride in validating the products, technologies, and services to find any issues before they go to production, and we serve as one of the last lines of defense for Caterpillar’s quality! As the Lean Product Validation Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team focused on improving quality, deploying Lean Methodologies, improving processes through manufacturing engineering, and serve as the Quality Manager in a product development environment. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving our ISO17025 accreditation as a testing laboratory, manage the process for continuous improvement projects, and leading the team to achieve process excellence. The Lean Product Validation Manager will continue to lead TPG along our journey of Built In Quality (BIQ) and help the team reduce waste, eliminate defects, and focus on end-to-end BIQ across Caterpillar’s product development value stream. As the Lean Product Validation Manager, you will need to have a growth mindset, promote continuous improvement, and help build a defect free culture at TPG. Job Duties:

• Create a structure for end-to-end BIQ at TPG.
• Lead TPG’s weekly Quality Meeting to address defects and waste in our processes.
• Serve as the Quality Manager and manage TPG’s ISO17025 accreditation as a testing laboratory.
• Manage and improve TPG’s Quality Management Systems (QMS).
• Manage a team of manufacturing engineers to create and improve process documentation at TPG.
• Manage the continuous improvement project portfolio at TPG.
• Manage process documentation across the facility for quality and safety-related processes.
• Develop a process for internal and external part quality inspections.
• Communicate defect data to TPG employees, management, and stakeholders.
• Support the root cause/corrective action (RCCA) analysis on defects related to data quality issues.
• Revise, create, and deliver Quality training to the various TPG teams.
• Facilitate improvements to TPG’s training program based on gaps identified through BIQ.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Engineering or Business, or 6 years of relevant work experience.
• 3 years of experience in supporting or leading quality.

• 3 years of project leadership experience.

Top Candidates will also have:

• Management or supervision experience.
• Experience with ISO 9001 and/or 17025 quality systems.
• Experience with manufacturing engineering.
• Experience leading continuous improvement projects.
• 6 Sigma, Lean, or American Society for Quality (ASQ) certifications.
• 3+ years of experience working in a production or product development environment.
• Experience in performing or managing quality inspections.
• Experience in creating or delivering training.
