JOB DESCRIPTION

Rapidly growing multiple location construction materials company is looking for an experienced QC Manager. Must be dependable, be able to multi-task, have great attention to detail and is proficient in working with excel spreadsheets. As a valued member of our team, the Quality Control (QC) Manager will oversee the QC staff, design mixes, maintain project files, schedule trial batches, monitor mix submittal process and job service requirements. The QC Manager will communicate with customers to gather information regarding mix requirements and communicate with sales teams to review project specifications and perform mix submittals. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be a self-starter.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manages all staff and dispatches field technicians.
  • Responsible for plant mix performance.
  • Evaluate test data and compile files for mix submittals and provide history of mix performance.
  • Process and test aggregates per ASTM specifications, cast and test concrete cylinders per ASTM specifications, evaluate concrete and aggregate performances, maintain mix items and costs in computer system.
  • Knowledge of cement testing requirements and process required to obtain approvals of state agencies.
  • Working knowledge of concrete admixtures, supplementary cementitious materials and various aggregates and their impact to the performance in concrete mix designs.
  • Working knowledge of concrete mix design performance with various constituents.
  • Working knowledge of concrete, cement and aggregate testing procedures complying with ASTM and ACI requirements.
  • Must be able to diagnose and analyze concrete performance issues or any concerns customers may have in the performance of mixes.
  • Participate in project meetings with customers and their engineering staff regarding concrete deliveries, concrete performance, and the mix submittal process.
  • Provide training to staff along with plant personnel and operations in any field related to the performance of concrete, cement, supplementary cementitious materials, admixtures and or any other concrete products.
  • Oversees concrete knowledge training for all drivers and plant staff.
  • Conducting quality audits to ensure that the quality policies are being adhered to.
  • Ability to motivate, coach and develop employees.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be able to work unsupervised with good communication skills.
  • This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. Evening and weekend assignments may be required depending on workload and service needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Preferred bachelor’s degree in an engineering, scientific, or construction-related discipline from an accredited college or university and/or 10 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • ACI Field Grade I Certification.
  • ACI Strength Testing Level I Certification.
  • NRMCA Field Grade II Certification.
  • NRMCA Field Grade III Certification (Preferred).
  • Knowledge of construction practices (i.e., formwork, rebar, concrete placing, etc.).
  • Strong reasoning and math abilities.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and specifications.
  • Knowledge of ready-mix manufacturing design, processes, and equipment.
  • Familiarity with all commonly used computer software (MS OfficeSuite, etc.).
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, blueprints, and understand necessary customer, local, state, and federal specifications and standards.
  • Must be able to lift up to fifty pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to handle loading and unloading of cylinders and other physical activities as required from time to time.
