Job Description

Job Purpose:

Under direction of the Grants Administrator II and Vice Chair for research, develop, plan, coordinator and administer grant and contract proposals for the Department of Public Health Sciences. Aid in strategic planning and manage the grant tracking database. Utilize surveys to analyze and implement improvements.

Job Responsibilities:

30% Monitors the administration of post-award grants to ensure that budgeting and administrative policies, procedures, and agency requirements are being followed; manages administrative problems and /or budget changes occurring during the grant period. Ensures all grant invoices and bills are processed in a timely manner. Analyzes transactions in grant accounts, monitors grant financial activities, and makes recommendations to investigators. Prepare and distribute financial reports to Business Manager and each Principle Investigator.

30% Formulate grant request proposals to funding agency to ensure compliance with policies and regulations. Uses knowledge of regulations (federal, state, private) to assist faculty, staff and students with complying with these policies and regulations. Serves as liaison between funding agencies, ORSP, GCA, and department investigators. Assists investigators in preparing grant proposals, including budgets, JIT Requests, progress and financial reports. Manage and prepare grant budgets according to project guidelines. Ensure compliance with various funding agency rules concerning expenditures. Coordinate proposal submissions.

15% Provide support to the Grants Administrator II and Vice Chair of Research in expanding the DPHS

grants portfolio. Assist with strategic planning by analyzing data to evaluate the success of initiatives, and present findings to arrive at data-based decisions. Will track data, perform detailed analysis, and make recommendations for future improvements. Responsible for creating and distributing Redcap surveys to assess key grant-oriented investigations. Analyze data and present in PowerPoint presentations with assistance from the Vice Chair of Research to then present to DPHS faculty. When applicable, assist with alterations in DPHS grants policies to create grants growth.

10% Perform Costing Allocations for Data Coordination Unit to ensure funding is being allocated correctly. Complete and distribute effort reports in a timely manner to meet Grants and Contracts Accounting quarterly deadline.

10% Assist in preparing proposal applications and contract bids for funding; assist investigators with

preparation of progress reports to funding agency. Assist staff delegated to manage individual grant projects.

5% Maintain database for pending and funded grants within the division. Maintain electronic files of all grants submitted. Prepare and distribute financial reports to each Principal Investigator.

MUSC Requirements

A bachelor's degree and three years business, personnel, grant-in-aid or public administration experience.
