Job Summary

The project engineer position provides direct support to the project manager and superintendent for construction projects. Serves as a liaison between the owner/client, the subcontractors, and the MYCON project staff to ensure the project proceeds safely, accurately, and smoothly.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Set up initial submittal register logs
  • Set up procurement log
  • Participate in establishing corporate and field plans
  • Implement the strategic plan for the project that identifies the construction teams goals
  • Ensures project superintendent has updated plans, specs, supplemental information, and submittals available at all times
  • Set up drawing logs based on construction drawings and update and maintain throughout the project for all drawing changes
  • Assist project manager and superintendent in preparation and updating of monthly project schedules
  • Set the schedule for regular meetings as required by the project manager
  • Attend and participate in job turn-over meetings for Q&A with an estimator about job specifics and for the general purpose of accepting ownership from that point forward
  • Assist project manager in preparation and information gathering for potential change orders for both the owner and subcontractors
  • Quality Control
  • Assist the superintendent in that the proper materials specified and approved are used to construct the facility
  • Focus on the work is being done correctly and on time
  • Manage the Request for Information (RFI) process
  • Create, log and track all RFIs from the superintendent, subcontractors, and suppliers, route this information to all parties involved, track until RFI is thoroughly answered, and maintain an up-to-date log and contract documents
  • Manage the processes for Architect Supplemental Information directives (ASI), Construction Change Directives (CCD), Requests for Pricing (RFP)
  • Log and track all ASI, CCD, RFP, and all other information or change documents.
  • Review and know details of project documents
  • Review and process all shop drawings and submittals for the project
  • Ensure accuracy with project documents and conditions
  • Manage the transmittal of shops and submittals timely and efficiently
  • Work in conjunction with the Superintendent to review all shop drawings
  • Manage all lead times with subcontractors
  • Manage all review times with the design team and/or approving authority
  • Participate in the Superintendent/PM/PE/Architect/Owner walk-thru of the project and coordinates the development and resolution of the punch list
  • Manage the log and track the completion of the Rolling Punch List with the superintendent and project manager's assistance
  • Prepare and maintain a Project Record Set of drawings
  • Prepare and coordinate a set of drawings on the job site; this will be accomplished with the superintendent's assistance
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining digital photo documentation of the project
  • Participate and assist in leading the various project construction meetings
  • Responsible for creating, maintaining, and distributing the meeting minutes
  • Majority of work time will be at assigned project job sites
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Construction Management or other Engineering related field required
  • Minimum of two years of experience
  • Training and a solid understanding of the technical and business aspects of construction project management and documentation
  • Ability to apply necessary analytical skills
  • Program knowledge such as Spectrum, ProCore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office
