Electrical Line-worker Program Instructor

Temporary/Part Time

Polk County Campus

Georgia Northwestern Technical College is seeking qualified applicants for the temporary part time position of Electrical Line-worker Instructor on the Polk County Campus. The part-time instructor will assist the full-time instructor in preparing individuals for entry-level line-worker employment with utility companies, by teaching/monitoring the Electrical Line-worker Program.

Required Qualifications: The applicant's knowledge and expertise must include theory and practical application; best safety practices; pole climbing techniques; the basic material and equipment utilized in linework; the ability to use, read, and apply standards within distribution line specifications; an understanding of basic transformer theory, construction, polarity, data plate, and testing; knowledge and understanding of wire size and ties; proper equipment use; and knowledge of proper meter check procedures before installation. High school diploma or high school equivalency required.

Preferred Qualifications: Certificate level or higher education in a related field. Experience as an instructor at the post-secondary level. Course work or work experience in curriculum development, instructional methods, and instructional assessment.

Salary: $50/hour

Location and Schedule: This position will work and teach a maximum of 29 hours per week Monday through Thursday for the electrical lineworker cohort beginning July 10, 2023. This position is for a total of ten (10) weeks during the duration of this cohort only. However, training classes, may at times, require evening hours and potential weekends (Saturdays). As a result, the position is eligible to flex hours pending supervisor approval. The position will be located at the Polk County Campus in Rockmart, GA.
