The Human Resources office is dedicated to supporting the mission and goals of Elon University by delivering a wide array of programs and services to the university’s most valuable asset, its employees. This office oversees an array of areas such as Compensation and Recruitment, Benefits, Employee Relations, Learning and Development, and other functional areas to provide the best experience and opportunities for our faculty/staff from onboarding to retirement.

General Purpose of Position
The Human Resources Program Assistant provides administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the office. This role is responsible for receiving and assisting any visitors of the HR office, answering telephone calls, ascertaining caller needs and refer to appropriate personnel with the provision of excellent service to employees, students, and visitors. They are also responsible for ensuring seamless service by supporting HR processes and applying knowledge of departmental and university policies and procedures. This position is for 32 hours per week and is eligible for full benefits provided by Elon.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Front Office Management:
  • Provide in-person, email, and telephone support for a wide variety of inquiries from employees, students, and visitors
  • Support HR student employees while they assist HR visitors
  • Collect, sort, distribute, or prepare mail
  • Manage HR Calendar and Business Services Conference Room (schedule meetings for various groups, arrange rooms, and coordinate schedules for HR staff)
Supplies Acquisition
  • Maintain office supplies and equipment including printers, copiers, fax machine, etc.
  • Complete monthly supply purchases
General HR Assistance:
  • Manage HR email inquiry account.
  • Assist with various processes including student work agreements, employee discounts, verifications of employment (start/end date and title only), AFLAC and much more.
  • Receive and verify new hire paperwork and supporting documentation related to the I-9 and E-Verify process.
  • Assist with student loan forgiveness, tuition remission and tuition exchange programs to ensure seamless experience.
  • Assist with various projects and events related to HR
  • Other duties as assigned by the Associate Vice President of HR/Chief HR Officer and Director of HR Operations

Education and Experience
