Job Description

Reporting

Relationship: Reports directly to the Engineering Manager


Location:
Douglas, Georgia


Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related discipline or years of equivalent investment casting experience.


Work Experience:
Ten to fifteen years applicable experience preferred.


Principal Area of

Responsibility: The Engineering Lead is responsible for the overall performance of their assigned engineering team. This person is responsible for developing the team and advancing the skill sets of its members and providing engineering leadership and direction to the organization and will be responsible for ensuring the company meets all customer and company requirements in respect to products.


Specific Duties:


Leadership:

  • Supervise and coordinate the work of engineers and technicians, and also provide support for manufacturing, quality and tooling engineers and technicians.


  • Responsible for the process of project selections, assignment and prioritization.


  • Ensure that all personnel understand the responsibility, authority and accountability of their role.


  • Ensure that all personnel are properly trained in the procedures and knowledge required for their job functions. Mentor team in use of proper engineering principles.


  • Resolve problems and provide leadership, expertise and guidance to cross-functional teams.


  • Assure compliance with all company policies and procedures in the development, manufacturing, application and documentation of products.


Process Improvement:

  • Foster strong relationships with business leaders by engaging in key business decisions and activities that drive and control transactions.


  • Establish project plans to manage expectations in term of scope and timing.


  • Design, develop and measure key performance indicators while identifying gaps between current and desired state.


  • Generate and implement ideas for product improvement, expansion, rationalization and cost reduction.


  • Develop procedures for new business processes.


  • Foster LEAN culture throughout the operation.


  • Drive continuous improvement of product development processes, standards and methodologies across the operation.


  • Create reports and briefings (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, ad hoc)


  • Manager team budget.


Support and Maintenance:


  • Provide day to day support and troubleshooting of user and application problems as it relates to business transactions.


  • Furnish support and explanation, as needed, for regulatory and customer compliance.


  • Track all outstanding work to develop efficiency within teams and projects.


  • Responsible for verifying that all assigned projects comply with customer requirements, company standards, and sound engineering principles.


  • Support engineering functions from sister facilities.


Physical and

Mental Demands:


  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools


  • Strong understanding of project management methodology.


  • Strong analytical skills, ability to identify and anticipate user needs and design/execute quantitative approaches.


  • Must be detail oriented and numbers driven with a concern for quality.


  • Must be able to multi-task and prioritize in an ad-hoc, fast-paced environment.


  • Strong customer focus skills.


  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to adjust based on the audience/end user community.


  • Incumbent must physically and mentally perform the job demands as listed below.

  • Ability to consistently follow policies and procedures.
