The Process Engineer role is based in Allentown, PA and reports directly to the Manager, Process Support.

What you'll get to do:

Expert System Application Maintenance and Optimization – Assist in monitoring the performance of all North American cement expert system applications in use. Work in coordination with plant staff to optimize expert system applications in crushing, milling, pyroprocessing, environmental compliance and quality control applications to drive high utilization and value. Regularly consult with cement plant operations staff with respect to improving operational performance.

Application Development and Commissioning – Continuously seek opportunities for high value applications to be installed in the cement plants through site inspection and consultation with plant and CCC staff. Assist in the development of the control strategy and expert system application design, development, installation and commissioning.

Data Collection and Reporting – Maintain a common central data historian to monitor performance of all cement plant processes in North America. Develop new reporting and tracking tools for plant benchmarking and troubleshooting.

Process Control Technologies – Be knowledgeable and up to date in new software, hardware and instrumentation technologies available for cement process control. Prioritize and assist efforts in evaluating new technologies in coordination with HC Global resources.

Process Evaluation/ Production Support – Regularly consult with cement plant operations staff with respect to improving operational performance. Assess plant processes to identify technical problems / limitations while developing cost effective technical and operational solutions to solve these issues with respect to the equipment, equipment modifications or process modifications.

Safety - Perform work in a safe manner and in accordance with MSHA regulations. Ensure others around you are working safely.

Training – Assist in developing and delivering training courses related to expert systems applications for Mill Engineers, Kiln Engineers, Process Engineers, Control System Engineers, EITs and other production personnel.

Who we are looking for:

  • University/College degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent degree.
  • Minimum five years of cement manufacturing experience in operations and/or process engineering with emphasis on high level controls.
  • Knowledge of cement chemistry, cement manufacturing, related processes, and equipment.
  • Continuous improvement of knowledge regarding process and cost optimization methods by using international resources.
  • Ability to travel is a must.
  • Ability to work as a team member, as well as individually, on complex issues
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written in English.

Work Environment

  • Role operates in a manufacturing environment with moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, elevated noise levels, and dusty conditions
  • Must be able to occasionally climb stairs, walk on uneven surfaces and enter confined spaces.
