ChampionX has an immediate need for a Principal Chemist in our Production Chemical Technologies – Research, Development and Engineering (RDE) Asset Integrity Group located in Sugar Land, Texas.

The Principal Chemist will support new product development related to oilfield corrosion. The Principal Chemist will also support the development of new experimental products and digital solutions, field evaluation at customer sites, new product introduction, manufacturing and supply chain support, and customer-facing technical support. The ideal candidate is highly versatile, communicates effectively, and thrives in a collaborative environment.

What You Will Do:

  • Perform work in a safe manner while identifying opportunities for improving safety

  • Deliver innovative solutions to customer problems related to corrosion

  • Develop new corrosion products through testing and formulation

  • Support entire product life cycle, including both laboratory and field technical support

  • Demonstrate proficiency in interpreting and understanding laboratory and field test results that apply to the associated area

  • Communicate technical recommendations or test results to a wide range of audiences including internal and external customers

  • Work effectively in a team environment with cross-functional members.

  • Detail orientated and excellent time management skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or related technical field. Education and experience should fall in one of the following levels:

  • BS and 5 years of experience, OR

  • MS and 3 years of experience, OR

  • PhD and up to 2 years of experience

Physical Demands:

  • Role is deemed safety-sensitive and may be subject to employer or customer drug testing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Corrosion background is desired

  • Prior experience with Electrochemistry techniques is desired

  • Demonstrated project management and organizational skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Proven innovator and problem solver
