Main position objectives

The PLC Systems Testing Technician provides the highest quality in electrical testing of control systems and mechanical functionality on the Maag family of equipment. Working independently but supported by sales and engineering, the incumbent is the testing PLC representative for quality and functionality of our product portfolio forthe customer’s equipment and controls prior to shipment.

Position description – Tasks, responsibilities, competencies

· Requires a thorough knowledge of Engineering and Manufacturing practices and methodologies.

· Possesses an in-depth understanding of 3-phase motor controls, Allen Bradley, Siemens PLC’s, programming and HMI screen design, and related products.

· Reads and evaluates electrical schematics for wire checks and interconnections for testing

· Reads and evaluates mechanical drawings and BOM’s

· Troubleshoots using meters, laptop, schematics, and manuals

· Troubleshoots, reads, and edits PLC logic

· Reviews work orders and specifications prior to starting projects

· Maintains specified test records and reports for all relevant testing data and is accountable for all check sheets after testing to hand off to project coordinators

· Strives for continuous improvement in the process to maintain optimum operation for the customers equipment

· Tests for spare part orders

· Demonstrates thorough knowledge of Siemens and Allen Bradley controls.

· Possesses MS Office experience including MS Excel experience.

· Works effectively with networking, and internet devices.

· Cleans screens and tanks after testing

· Works independently

· Some travel to customer’s facility to assist in startups should be expected at times.

Work Environment

· Generally a Systems Testing Technician work in a plant setting. One of their main tools include a computer with proprietary software to create, and modify their programs as well as standard assembly tools. While performing the duties of this job in a plant setting, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration, hot equipment, hot and cold weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud and PPE may be required.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Job Specification

Mandatory

· Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering / Technology, or a related field of education, or relevant experience is required.

· Training on logic circuits, electric motors, gears / mechanical devices

Desirable

· Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant job experience

Professional experience (description incl. No. of years)

Mandatory

· Familiar with large rotating equipment

· Able to read and explain manufacturing drawing, schematics and piping and instrumentation diagrams.

Desirable

· Experience in plastics processing equipment is highly desirable.
