Summary

The UT Southwestern Medical Center PGY2 Pharmacy Residency Programs are in the process of obtaining ASHP accreditation. The PGY2 Program is a one year post graduate training with experienced preceptors to prepare pharmacist to work in health systems. The Residency Program will typically accept two candidates into the PGY2 programs and each resident will have an area of specialty for their program (e.g. Critical Care, Health-System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership (HSPAL)). Residents will select elective rotations to meet their professional goals in addition to the orientation to pharmacy operations and practice related to required advanced experiences in clinical and administrative practice sites. After training in the areas related to their program’s specialty, residents should possess the advanced knowledge and skills needed to enable them to practice at the highest level of their doctorate degrees and possibly obtain specialist or management level positions upon program completion.
