JOB SUMMARY
The Patient Transporter is responsible for the safe and efficient transport of patients throughout the facility from department to department.

EDUCATION
High school diploma or equivalent.

LICENSUREN/A

EXPERIENCEPrevious patient transport experience preferred.

CERTIFICATION
BLS certification required within 60 days of employment and required renewals thereafter.

COMPUTER/TYPING/MATH SKILLS
Basic keyboarding experience required. Experience with the hospital’s information system would be beneficial.

JOB SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTSMust have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram or schedule form. Must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables where only limited standardization exists. Must have visual acuity sufficient enough to read requisitions, forms and patient records. Must have hearing acuity sufficient to communicate with patients and other hospital contacts both directly and by telephone. Must have manual dexterity sufficient to manipulate equipment, mobile equipment, patient beds, carts and wheelchairs. Must have the ability to move patients from one location to another. Must be able to tolerate standing position for long periods of time, and lift supplies. Must be able to tolerate sitting position for long periods of time.
