Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio/Planned Parenthood Advocates of Ohio
is seeking a mission-minded Associate to join us as a full time (37.5 per week) Patient Access Trainer.


Patient Access Trainer (PAT) positions will be based out of one of the following locations: Bedford Heights, Akron, Columbus, Mansfield.


SUMMARY:
The Patient Access Trainer (PAT) is responsible for mastering both the Epic application and Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio's (PPGOH) operational workflows as relates to patient access. The patient access program covers front desk operations including but not limited to welcoming patients and visitors, patient registration, scheduling visits, schedule maintenance, patient referrals, and financial assistance. The PAT is responsible for effective delivery of training materials, facilitating the onboarding of new hires, and continuous learning for existing staff within the clinical environment as relates to the patient access role. Operates independently from the health center staffing schedule and collaborates with practice managers and clinicians to ensure staff training needs are met. Models and reinforces PPGOHs workplace values, service standards, and service recovery standards to ensure delivery of an exceptional patient and employee experience.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Conveys expertise of Epic and PPGOH patient access workflows and successfully utilizes skills using virtual, instructor led, in-clinic training and online methods of instruction.
  • Provides Epic patient access training to super-users and end-users while also providing hands on go-live support to assigned health center teams.
  • Evaluates and monitors new and established clinical staffs knowledge and skills regarding the patient access program and workflows. Provides constructive and supportive feedback to ensure a standardized, patient-centered approach to care at all PPGOH health centers.
  • Analyzes the effectiveness of the patient access training program and collaborates with leadership to revise as indicated.
  • Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates all forms of learning activities to ensure in line with the affiliates mission, vision, values, strategies and goals. Works with key stakeholders to improve the patient access training program as well as to support clinical staffs skill development, performance improvement, empowerment and learning.
  • Identifies opportunities for workflow improvement in support of patient and employee experience as well as Epic training initiatives.
  • Helps to develop patient access curriculum in support of new and enhanced health services program initiatives and service offerings.
  • Reviews and understands PPGOH clinical workflows, policies, and terminology in order to translate information into educationally sound training content. Helps develop instructor-led and online course materials (instructor guides, staff training guides, PowerPoint slides, assessments, and other materials as appropriate).
  • Reports training environment issues or curriculum updates to Better Health and Clinical Training leadership to ensure updates/changes are made timely and continue to meet end-user needs.
  • Reviews new application enhancements/upgrades and assists with development of implementation and roll out plans to key stakeholders and end-users.
  • Models effective communication skills utilizing PPGOHs In This Together values, service standards, and service recovery.
  • Provides Epic patient access credentialed training for identified PPGOH users in the Epic system.
  • Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

Must have at least one year of experience in front office functions including by not limited to, patient registration, scheduling patients, troubleshooting schedules, insurance verification, billing/check-out, financial policies and procedures, patient portal enrollment and usage, money handling, opening and closing procedures.


To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The candidate must acquire Epic certification as a credentialed trainer within 1 year of accepting the position. Reasonable accommodations will be made.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Valid Ohio Drivers License
  • Clinical Services experience
  • Clinical training experience preferred
