DCG Communications (DCG) is seeking a well-rounded, organized, thorough, and proactive part-time copy editor to support our business development team. In this role, you will edit federal proposals and other written materials prepared by others, review materials for clarity and consistency with style requirements, and recommend and discuss with the author the editorial changes needed to enhance the clarity of the information, grammatical accuracy, and consistency of the data. You will work with the editorial manager to determine turnaround times based on editorial estimates.

Hours: 5 - 20 hours/week (project-based hours).

Location: At DCG, many of our team members, including this role, are remote. With over 100 employees based in 27 states (and counting!), DCG is committed to hiring talented employees across the United States. The selected candidate should be available to contact during DCG’s core Eastern Standard Time business hours, but will be free to edit copy on their own time, adhering to deadlines.

Position Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree and a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant professional experience copy editing, preferably in an agency or newsroom setting.
  • Expertise in copy editing best practices and working knowledge of AP Style (familiarity with other style guides, including government agency style guides, a plus).
  • Proven ability to present information clearly and at a level appropriate for the intended audience.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, an eagerness to work in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to manage a diverse workload.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to problem-solve and drive outcomes.
  • Team player with a positive attitude.
