JOB DESCRIPTION: Assistant Operations Director (M-F 12a-7:30a) or (Sat-Sun 8:30p-7:30a)

QUALIFICATIONS:

The Assistant Operations Director shall possess:

  • High School Diploma (minimum) and related experience with youth.
  • Clearance from Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment and federal criminal clearance.
  • A valid driver's license and vehicle.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry babies/toddlers, packages, and climb stairs in the work site, and use a computer.

Your primary responsibility is the supervision, care, and safety of the residents. You are expected to create an atmosphere of acceptance, confidentiality, challenge, and concern for the residents, serve as an adult role model and teacher, supervise the activities of the house, make decisions, when necessary, in keeping with the house regulations and rules, and be available to residents for discussion, needs, and emergencies.

Your responsibility includes the operation, cleanliness, and upkeep of the house, particularly the care of the residents as you initiate, implement, and oversee daily program activities in consultation with the Operations Director.

Assistant Operations Director: is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and functional site:

  • Oversee the daily activities of the house. Familiarize new residents with house activities, regulations, and responsibilities. Supporting all the rules and giving redirection to residents on your shift
  • Provide Goal Planning (if assigned), informal counseling and availability to residents to discuss problems, and goals on Independent Living Plan
  • Drive and/or accompany and/or advocate for resident at outside agency and medical appointments, etc
  • Implement daily activities which prepare the resident for independent living in consultation with the Operations Director, and in keeping with the need of the individual resident
  • Assist in housing searches
  • Respond to phone calls with attentiveness and compassion, taking and giving information and referral assistance with an informed response
  • Maintain a daily log of house activities and complete all appropriate recordings
  • Intake and report new admissions to Emergency Services and report missing residents to Emergency Services
  • Participate in ongoing staff training, professional development and supervision as required. Attend all staff meetings and required trainings.
  • Setup/break down and clean vacant units
  • Wash and dry linen for shelter, including folding and storing linen
  • Distribute supplies, including linens, cleaning supplies, food/personal care items.
  • Check to ensure that clients are in assigned units
  • Ensure all visitors have signed in, submitted proper ID, and comply with shelter visitation policy
  • Ensure that all residents and visitors are aware of and are abiding by all shelter rules
  • Teach, monitor, and assist the residents in menu planning, food shopping, cooking schedules, and meal preparation for clients as well as supervising cleanup of communal areas
  • Discuss any issues, problems, strategies with Operations Director prior to corrective action
  • Discuss all client concerns with Operations Director
  • Attend supervision sessions with Operations Director
  • Assist clients in maintaining responsibility for themselves
  • Assist with orientation of new clients, including escorting them to units, explaining chores, performing bag checks and other assigned admission tasks
  • Assist clients with daily needs when necessary
  • Secure signatures on daily logs sheets
  • Conduct room checks to ensure that residents are in the shelter
  • Any other operations- related responsibility required by the Department
  • Shift Specific tasks:
  • Ensure residents are using kitchen during designated hours, cleaning up after use, feeding children age appropriate foods, strapping children into high-chair correctly, using facility appliances and utensils safely
  • Provide cooking, preparation, cleaning guidance as needed
  • Circulate through the house to ensure the children are bathed and ready for house bedtime
  • Enforce curfew and bedtime for children and residents
  • Set aside time to assist residents with any goals left over from the day that will enable a good start for the following morning
  • Room checks are done at minimum 3x nightly to check for any safety hazards such as unattended children, unsafe sleeping (co-sleeping), or any unusual activity
  • Other duties as needed and assigned, including but not limited to household organizing and cleaning. May be moved to different job site and/or different hours based on Program needs
  • The Assistant Operations Director is accountable to the Operations Director
