Job description

Under general supervision, assist with daily patient care and clinic flow. Promotes the mission, vision, and values of The Eye Center of Alabama on an internal and external basis.

• Take medical histories and verify information
• Perform visual function and diagnostic tests, such as applanation tonometry, refraction, and retinoscopy
• Utilize tools such as a field analyzer and OCT to take eye measurements
• Inform ophthalmologist about changes to a patient's visual acuity and other vision issues
• Dilate eyes to prepare patients for their eye exam
• Explain how to properly use eye drops or other medications
• Explain how to properly use contact lenses
• Assist with inventory management
• Requires good understanding of ophthalmic practice and patient care
• Knowledge of medical instrumentation and proper care and usage.
• Knowledge of A-Scans, OCT and fundus photos
• Accurately performs: Refractions, Lensometry, Keratometry, Tonometry, Visual Fields, Amslers, Muscle Testing, Pupil Exams, Topography and other tests as required

*** Must Have COA/COT certification

Experience: 3 year ophthalmology experience

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.54 - $16.52 per hour
