The Nurse Practitioner - Nutritionist Consultant will support the XEVAS Program supporting Commercial Space.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and maintain XEVAS Food Certification Plan.
• Coordinate with NASA, crew, and test subjects participating in xEVA System pre-flight testing (e.g., training, evaluation, qualification, and countermeasures) in evaluating and testing nutritional requirments.
• Support post-test analysis and certification of foods in the new spacesuit.
• Document results of the testing and generate post-test reports.
• Support the development of Human Factors Analysis that assesses and predicts nutritional requirements during training, EVA and Lunar Operations.
• Provide analysis of pre- and in-flight xEVA System in-suit nutrition food safety. Identify food products that meet minimum nutritional requirements and are compatible with the Food Process & Certification Plan (FPCP).
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED:

• This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
• Must be a licensed Nurse Practitioner.
• Must have a bachelor's degree in the field of science, healthcare, or a related field.
• Must have 10+ YEARS of experience providing direct service in a clinical setting or related work experience.
• Prior academic or professional working experience with aerospace medicine topics such as life support systems and hyperbaric/hypobaric operations.
  

DESIRED:

• Prior experience with National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) processes and procedures is highly desired.
• Prior experience working for the military or other major aerospace and space companies.
• Technical knowledge of spacecraft systems and operations (e.g. thermal control, life support systems, suited systems, and hyper- or hypobaric environments field research).

WORK LOCATION:

• This consultant position offers a hybrid work schedule.

• Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time).
• May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

ATTENDANCE:

• Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.
• Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:

DRUG AND ALCOHOL SCREENING REQUIRED:
