Overview:
  • The Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) Technician ll will provide Organizational-level support on a fleet of HH-60M and UH-60L aircraft and aircraft components/subcomponents. Performs Non-Destructive Inspections (NDI) on aircraft and aircraft component/subcomponents utilizing Liquid Penetrant (PT), Magnetic Particle (MT), Eddy Current (ET), and Ultrasonic (UT) methods in support of our Contractor Field Team at Fort Knox, KY. Candidate must supply own common hand tools and toolbox.

Responsibilities:
  • The Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) Technician ll will provide Organizational-level support on a fleet of HH-60M and UH-60L aircraft and aircraft components/subcomponents. Specific responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
  • Performs Non-Destructive Inspections (NDI) on aircraft and aircraft component/subcomponents utilizing Liquid Penetrant (PT), Magnetic Particle (MT), Eddy Current (ET), and Ultrasonic (UT) methods.
  • Reading and interpreting manufacturers manuals, service bulletins, technical data and publications, engineering data, and other documentation or specifications to determine appropriate action and inspection methods/requirements.
  • Set-up and calibrate equipment, conduct tests with appropriate NDT Technique; interpret, evaluate, and document results
  • Familiar with the scope and limitations of the method in which certified and capable of directing the work of trainees and Level I personnel
  • Familiar with the codes, standards and other contractual documents that control the NDT techniques
  • Determines test method, and prepares fluids and parts for nondestructive inspection.
  • Interprets nondestructive inspection test results, and provides information about defects.
  • Performs nondestructive inspection on structures, components, and systems.
  • Detects flaws such as cracks, delaminations, voids, processing defects, and heat damage using penetrant, eddy current, magnetic particle, radiographic, optical, and ultrasonic test equipment.
  • Determines metallurgical information of components according to alloy, temper, conductivity, and associated factors.
  • Operates, maintains, and inspects nondestructive equipment. Enters in the maintenance records description of all of the work performed, verifying the work was performed satisfactorily.
  • Handles and disposes of hazardous waste and materials.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education/Certificates:
    • High school diploma or GED required
    • Must be able to pass a drug screen
    • Must be able to pass a background check
    • Must meet minimum requirements for the qualification for the certification of personnel performing Nondestructive testing (NDT) in the aerospace manufacturing, service, maintenance and overhaul industries in accordance with NAS 410 or equivalent.
  • Experience:
    • Prior aviation industry experience preferred
    • Must be able to prioritize workloads, and train junior client personnel when requested.
    • Able to qualify and certify as a Level II NDT Inspector on Magnetic Particle (MT), Ultrasonic (UT), Fluorescent Penetrant (PT), and Eddy Current (ET) methods of inspection.
