The Multisport Coach position is an integral part of the camper's experience, providing a dynamic platform that is unmatched. You will execute and support all aspects of the program, including overall curriculum and appropriate use of facilities. The goal is to ensure a high level of training and progression, making sure campers are engaged and participating in a responsible manner. Multisport coaches should have basic expertise in one or more of the following sports: Trampolining/Tumbling, Parkour, Bouldering, Skateboarding, Scootering, and BMX. They will be responsible for upholding energy within the park and for the cleanliness of the facility. Multisport staff will also support in facilitating recreational activities throughout the day.

  • BASIC SCHEDULE/REQUIREMENTS:
    • Must successfully pass a background screening to ensure suitability of contact with minor children and the public, in accordance with federal, state, and local jurisdictions
    • Physical Capabilities: bend, twist, push, pull, stand, lift 50 lbs.
    • Must be comfortable working in an outdoor and indoor all-season environment
    • Adhere to all workplace safety practices, expectations, and guidelines
    • Camp Attendance Requirements:
    • Summer Camp Season (June 4th - August 19th)
    • Preferred minimum 4-week commitment within Summer camp season
      • As a requirement of this position, pre-hire criminal history clearances are collected from the Pennsylvania State Police (PATCH) system, child abuse clearances are obtained through the Department of Public Welfare, and federal history is taken through FBI fingerprint screening.
Requirements:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Overall
    • Work a maximum of 15 (fifteen) sessions throughout the week, including mandatory instruction, zone coaching, overnight counseling and recreation activities as assigned
    • Attend 2 (two) staff training clinics per week, in addition to facility and equipment training
    • Assist with sport events, clinics and programs as assigned
    • Execute routine daily maintenance and cleaning for all facilities
  • Coaching
    • Responsible for leading a group of 7-10 campers daily through a daily 2.5-hour mandatory instruction session
    • Creating a lesson plan via Progression Cards for the week to ensure campers are learning new skills and meeting goals
    • Evaluate camper skill levels based on criteria and discuss progression comparisons, providing feedback to campers for ongoing skill development
    • Conduct daily reporting and recording of incidents, accidents or rule violations to direct supervisor(s)
  • Zone Coaching
    • Safety- Ensure campers are acting responsibly and respectfully to others within the Action facility and make sure everyone is using the facility in a safe manner
    • Maintenance - Inspecting all areas each shift for any ramps or obstacles that need repair and alerting your direct supervisor(s)
    • Communicate with medical team effectively in event of an injury
  • Counseling
    • Assist campers in daily routine including chores and overall cabin/surrounding area cleanliness
    • Counseling to include taking attendance with required night supervisor sign-off and enforcement of lights out
    • Attend and participate in staff training to acquire knowledge for behavior management techniques, emergency evacuation procedures, etc.
    • Helping to ensure that the cabin is a safe and healthy environment for every camper
Other Duties as Assigned.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/SPECIAL SKILLS:

  • Must have 1+ years of experience working with kids and/or teens
  • Experience working in a camp environment is preferred
  • High school degree or equivalent preferred
  • Experience in action sports coaching preferred
  • Health and Safety Certifications
