Overview

Palmerton & Parrish, Inc. (PPI) is seeking a positive, highly motivated Professional Engineer to join our Springfield, MO office. This position will be responsible for managing construction materials testing (CMT) projects, creating and developing client relationships for construction materials testing projects, developing proposals, and writing and reviewing CMT reports. The candidate is expected to be an excellent communicator and have the ability to both work independently and within a team environment.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities

  • Manage CMT & special inspection project activities, including field operations and laboratory assignments
  • Perform a variety of testing, observations, and inspections of construction materials (e.g., aggregates, asphalt, concrete, grout, mortar, masonry, soils, steel, etc.) in the field and laboratory
  • Conduct field investigations and fieldwork troubleshooting
  • Review drawings and construction to assure compliance with plans and specifications
  • Supervise field staff (i.e., CMT technicians, laboratory staff, and/or other support personnel)
  • Provide expertise and advice on complex projects; communicate complex engineering issues and concepts to technical and non-technical clients, contractors, and staff
  • Develop and maintain positive business relationships with clients, government officials, contractors, etc.
  • Prepare proposals and cost estimates
  • Track and evaluate project progress and budgets
  • Create, maintain, and review accurate and confidential records and prepare easily understandable reports and documentation

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering (civil / geotechnical / geological)
  • Professional Engineering license required
  • Minimum 5 years experience
  • A valid driver’s license, with clean driving record
  • Must have good written & verbal communication skills, including conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work safely and ethically at all times
  • Positive work attitude
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, project site specifications, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to work on and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to physically maneuver construction sites, excavations, and uneven terrain
