Overview (Scope of Role)
The Market Development Manager (MDM) will accelerate CASE (Construction, Adhesives, Sealants, Elastomers) market segment growth. This will enable Trinseo to access new markets, explore new applications, and penetrate new and key accounts. The MDM works closely with the regional sales organization to define and drive the regional market participation plan and ensures functional and project alignment.

Reporting directly to the Global Marketing Manager, this position will be remote.


Responsibilities:
The Global MDM will:
  • Prepare and drive execution of the Regional Market Participation Plan and growth plan (where to play, who to play with, how to win)
  • Identifies market opportunities to accelerate profitable and sustainable growth
  • Work with technical team to accumulate understanding on application development and product innovations (if needed), and with functional team to set-up service capabilities to clearly define “how to win”.
  • Facilitate the penetrate key accounts that excel in their specific segments and set the stage for qualifying Trinseo products, and drive commercialization.
With essential activities in:
1) Market Participation Plan for CASE NA – “where and with whom to play”
  • MDM works with regional Sales team, global functions (Marketing, R&D) and key customers to define the CASE NAA Market Participation Plan (5Ps marketing-mix) and describe “where to play”, “who to play” and “how to win”.
  • The MDM ensures the plan implementation with the sales team, track progresses and identify opportunities to accelerate growth.
  • The MDM follows and uses industry trends and translate them in growth opportunities.
  • Works with the local team to identify, describe and funnel new opportunities (e.g. market strategy catalyst workshops) – drive the clarification of the regional new market opportunities (MO).
  • Work with global peer to communicate and leverage opportunities and solutions from other regions.
  • The MDM owns with regional product launch process (incl. LIGOS naming).
  • Actively contributes in defining the regional market communication plan.
2) Plan Application expertise – define “how to win”
  • The MDM works with internal and external experts in the industry to clearly understand key applications, value drivers, size, market trends, value chain players, incumbency products, competitors, expected profitability, qualification and purchasing process.
  • Work with technical team on application development to develop products, performance, and value propositions to provide a “solution” to customers and creates competitive advantages for Trinseo.

Required Educations, Skills & Experience
  • A university degree is required for this role.
  • At least 5 years of experience in either commercial, marketing and/or other commercial roles in Polymers/Chemical Industry is required.
  • Prior sales experience is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated capabilities of key account development.
  • Demonstrated capabilities in managing through opportunities identification to products commercialization.
  • Demonstrated capabilities of learning new applications, understanding basic application and product technologies.
  • Demonstrated high accountability and ownership.
  • Good team player.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
