JOB TITLE: Maintenance Technician


SITUATION IN ORGANIZATION:


This position reports directly to the Maintenance & Reliability Manager


JOB DIMENSIONS


To provide a systematic method that ensures the integrity and reliability of all critical and non-critical equipment and control loops to operate at their optimum safety level for the overall protection of the Torrance Plant and Community.


ACTIVITIES


Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Complete maintenance work orders and computer-generated scheduled work orders.
  • Coordinate downtime with Production as appropriate. Close work orders as completed in SAP.
  • Complete supervised training in key safety elements, specific maintenance task, and be required to pass written exam prior to unsupervised work on specific tasks.
  • Performs preventative maintenance (PM's) and overhauls of equipment.
  • Makes general mechanical repairs to production and facility equipment.
  • Performs general lubrication of production and facility equipment.
  • Performs plant/ facility and equipment housekeeping (this includes performing all clean up jobs as related to maintenance tasks, duties and functions).
  • Retrieve spare parts and supplies as assigned by Maintenance Mgr. as needed to accomplish work.
  • Ensure waste material / hazardous waste is dispose of properly and received annual RCRA training.
  • Must be able to do confined space entry work, elevated work and work in cramped spaces
  • Assists in annual stock take inventories.
  • Other duties as needed to meet the needs of the plant or business.
  • HSEQ responsibilities: Employee is expected to maintain a healthful and safe working environment and is further expected to:
  • Meet all legal, regulatory and other *requirements of the site through general awareness and training.
  • Participate in HSEQ *activities provided by the site management. Arkema Coating Resins and Arkema, Inc.
  • Identify and communicate the potential gains and possible improvements related to the work environment and management system through employee suggestion programs, during group meetings, or through *other identified communication tools.
  • Report all health, safety, environmental and quality (HSEQ) near-miss, accident or injury incidents to their supervisor and the HES Coordinator or site manager through *means identified during orientation or *refresher training.
  • Remain in compliance with the *rules, *standard procedures and *work instructions related to the specific job title and site location.
  • Complete *assigned training through Arkema learning management system or attendance to assigned Web-Ex or Instructor Led Training (ILT) classes.


  • Employee will be provided tools and references during orientation or during initial and refresher training to ensure his/her access to and knowledge of these expectations.

CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT

  • Comply with the HSEQ Policy, participates and supports AIMS/ HSEQ audits.
  • Comply with Regulations, Legal and Internal Requirements as made known by the site and by the business unit (BU).
  • Comply with the rules of the specific location to which one is assigned as well as the rules set by the business unit (BU) and Arkema Inc.
  • Comply with all standard procedures and work instructions to ensure productivity, quality assurance and cost effectiveness.
  • Identify and communicate potential gains or possible improvements to the management system.
  • Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements
  • Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.)
  • Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents


ACCOUNTABILITIES


Responsible for repairs and troubleshooting equipment, maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as pumps, motors process/transfer and equipment.


QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED


  • Requires a HS diploma and/or GED
  • Manufacturing experience; mechanical, pipefitting, rotating assembly experience
  • Must be highly motivated and able to work independently
  • Must be able to work overtime and be on call.
  • Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 ponds
