This position supports the meat tray padding operation. This level of mechanic is responsible for maintaining and operating the padding production equipment with padder operators and packers. This includes all padding production equipment and peripheral equipment as assigned. This leader does this by working with the maintenance team to determine the direction, timing, and coordination of necessary repairs.
The position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and will work with closely with the production leaders.
Responsibilities
Able to work safely and identify safety issues and implement repairs
Implement new or revised processes, procedures or operating practices in all areas and processes involving packaging trays, changed SOP’s, safety procedures, etc.
Train new padder production personnel
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems
Responsible for the padder set up and operation
Ability to troubleshoot, repair and recommend padder improvements to increase speed or reduce downtime
Perform planned preventative maintenance on the padding equipment
Maintain housekeeping and implement 6S in areas of assigned responsibility to ensure a safe and clean work environment
Must possess good written and verbal communication skills, decision making ability and mathematical knowledge
Must be able to utilize Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for work orders, parts check out, and data collection purposes - Fresno uses Maintenance Connection
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required, technical school credentials are preferred
1+ year of maintenance experience (hydraulic, electrical, mechanical and/or general) in a manufacturing environment
Proven electrical, mechanical, welding, and tool & die experience
Willingness to work Overtime, Weekends, and Holidays as Required
Ability to learn & follow written procedures as they relate to work orders, PM schedules, and maintenance procedures with minimal follow-up from supervision
Computer literacy in Desktop Applications and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
Understand and follow safe work rules in regards to cutting and welding, operating shop equipment and conducting mechanical and electrical repairs
Competent in working with computerized machine controls and interfaces
Highly organized, problem solver, able to handle multiple tasks, self-motivated with strong sense of accountability
Must have good written and verbal communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with people at all levels within the organization
Able to travel to other plants for best practice visits (1x a year)
