Position Description

What your job will be like:
As a member of the CST Division’s Systems Team you will provide primary system administration support for Jefferson Lab's MacOS X environment, including system configuration and maintenance of our entire Mac environment. Your responsibilities will include systems level support to the staff and scientific users at Jefferson Lab by providing configuration management and patch remediation for MacOS X and Linux systems. Additionally, you will provide secondary support for our Linux systems and servers. You will also participate in rotating after-hours support for essential services.

In this role you will:
Provide systems administration support for the Mac OS X systems managed by the Systems Team, including system and layered software installation and system configuration and maintenance
Research, evaluate, and recommend hardware and software solutions for the building and maintenance of MacOS X and Linux systems and services
Work with more senior staff to recognize missing functionality in our Mac and Linux environment and recommend, develop, and implement these solutions
Provide systems administration support for our Linux desktop and server systems, including configuration and patch management

Qualifications We Require:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields

Experience:
No experience required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated programming abilities in Python, Perl, Powershell or other scripting languages
Able to communicate clearly in writing (e.g. email, memos, explanations, drawings) and explain work to their supervisor and others in the group
Can work effectively with peers

Other:
Must be a US Citizen.

Qualifications We Desire:
Experience using Jamf Pro for managing Macintosh systems
Experience using Redhat Satellite and/or puppet for managing Linux systems
Understanding of current Cyber Security system administration issues and best practices
