Position Title: Logistics Clerk

Reports To: Traffic Supervisor

Status: Non-Exempt

Job Summary

Ensure that driver documents are completed accurately and processed in a timely manner, while maintaining regular contact with drivers, warehouse, and office staff. Assist Traffic Supervisor in collecting and maintaining vehicle/driver records. Respond in a courteous and professional manner to customer requests and complaints, forwarding both to management promptly.

Special Qualifications, Education or Licenses:

Minimum educational requirements from an accredited college or university include:

  • Two (2) years progress toward a Bachelor of Arts or Science degree,
  • Associate Degree, and/or
  • Relevant experience in the Logistics industry.
  • Knowledge of DOT Driver Regulations and Dispatcher experience a plus.
  • Computer knowledge and proficiency in MS Word and Excel.

Essential Job Requirements:

  • Ability to read and write legibly.
  • Ability to count and perform simple mathematical calculations accurately.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time, in a temperature controlled and moderately noisy work environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers and suppliers, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to compose a coherent, grammatically correct letter and speak clearly, in English, with good grammar.
  • Ability to be flexible and remain courteous and professional while managing the stress of meeting deadlines and achieving production goals, dealing with interruptions, interference, lack of cooperation, and/or errors of customers.
  • Ability to pay attention to the details, produce accurate and timely results, and maintain concentration on the task at hand, while juggling multiple assignments, ignoring distractions from office noise and other workers in close proximity.
  • Ability to operate a computer terminal, computer printer, typewriter, calculator, facsimile machine, copier, telephone, and hand-held radio.
  • Ability to move freely about an office to access materials and use equipment.
  • Ability to perform correctly from memory after a suitable period of training.
  • Ability to maintain stamina and productivity throughout an eight (8) hour work day and work overtime as required.
  • Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance. Absenteeism, tardiness, and the inability to complete an entire shift are grave and unacceptable disruptions to our Company’s ability to service our customers.
  • Ability to initiate and maintain interpersonal contacts with people who may be hostile or impatient, and respond in a positive and professional manner to feedback from customers and coworkers alike.
  • Ability to reason, remember, and observe.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Daily inspect driver documents and key information into spreadsheet in a timely manner.
  • Daily sort driver activity/holdover sheets by driver/customer unit.
  • Daily file all driver paperwork and prepare them for billing at month end.
  • Filing and tracking of transportation data in spreadsheets including, but not limited to: DVIR’s, fuel usage, mileage, wash schedule, and preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Direct drivers to locations to load and unload as needed and report issues to Traffic Supervisor or to Lead Driver.
  • Assist Traffic Supervisor in preparation and collection of training records.
  • Respond timely to customer (plant and warehouse) and driver inquiries.
  • Assist in collection and updating of Driver documents, and forward to Human Resources Department for retention.
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with internal and external customers keeping lines of communication open and sharing feedback with management, including reporting signs of customer dissatisfaction.
  • Meet or exceed production goals while upholding the Company’s “Every Order Perfect” philosophy and ensuring “Zero Defects” in support of our Quality Program.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
