What You'll Do:
As a Lead Project Engineer, you'll be part of our Global Tools & Storage team located in Towson, Maryland. Specifically, you'll get to:
  • Successfully deliver projects that achieve all quality, performance, schedule, and cost objectives in a cross-functional environment
  • Utilize the Milestone process to develop and deliver technical design in support of new product development
  • Assure all project documentation is accurate and properly maintained
  • Recommend sound product design decisions following a thorough analysis of complex data
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to identify and clearly define customer requirements, and translate those requirements into appropriate product specifications
  • Effectively drive advanced root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions
  • Develop and execute plans for project sample builds
  • Coach and mentor Project Engineers to lead NPD Projects
  • Lead a team responsible for the technical design responsibility for assigned projects utilizing 2D and 3D design capabilities to deliver technically sound solutions
  • Analyze data to reach sound design/business decisions in complex technical situations
  • Participate and provide feedback in hands-on concept development and prototyping
  • Participate and provide feedback in hands-on product testing and data collection
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes -molding, casting, turning/milling, powdered metal, stampings, extrusions and forming
  • Identify opportunities to reduce cost and reduce design complexity
  • Some travel required (Domestic & International)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is required
  • At least 10 years of Mechanical Design experience preferred with manufacturing exposure
  • Excellent skills in using MS Office software (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Self-motivated, creative, goal-oriented and good team player
  • Firm understanding of GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and 2D drawing best practices
  • Excellent communication skills. Must be able to work with a global team including remote design and manufacturing centers
  • Demonstrated leadership aptitude in prior project experience
  • High level knowledge and experience with electro-mechanical design, electronic assemblies, and/or DC circuits is a plus
  • Excellent problem-solving skills & hand on abilities to build prototypes, diagnose problems, and report findings or corrective actions
  • Hold self accountable for Results and Behaviors, overcoming obstacles and partnering with others to deliver on commitments
  • Ability to lead project teams independently
  • Demonstrate Emotional Intelligence
  • Applied Knowledge of relevant production and or/and processes
  • Proven ability to solve complex problems within design constraints
  • Experience designing products for a high-volume manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrate understanding of quality, performance, schedule and cost objectives in a cross functional and / or technical environment.
  • Quickly identify and respond to shifting project priorities
