We are looking for an efficient and diligent kitchen supervisor/sous chef to join our team at FeedFolks. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced culinary environment and as a part of a team. Adhering to food safety rules and regulations is a must.

This position assists the Executive Chef in overseeing the culinary operations of the restaurant. This position ensures consistent high-quality food preparations, maximizes kitchen productivity, and manages kitchen staff members through hiring, supervision, training and development.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that each and every commissary client has an amazing experience through adherence to our food recipes and culinary operating procedures
  • Hire, supervise, train, develop and manage kitchen staff members, such as line cooks, prep cooks, dishwashers, etc.
  • Maintain a professional and positive attitude at all times
  • Maintain proper uniform and personal hygiene
  • Responsible for monitoring basic kitchen systems including recipe adherence, line checks, food review, and safety and sanitation practices
  • Responsible for knowledge and strict adherence to restaurant recipes and food preparation procedures
  • Assists in management of restaurant COGs, inventory, labor, food costs
  • Oversee kitchen staff members on preparation, timing and execution of food
  • Responsible for enforcing and maintaining kitchen operations in strict adherence to all policies and procedures regarding safety, sanitation and food handling
  • Maintain open communication with management and co-workers
  • Confirm that all products meet specifications upon delivery
  • Strives to continuously improve and streamline culinary operations through best practices, employee evaluations and policies and procedures
  • Responsible for confirming that nothing leaves the kitchen without being spec appropriate

Education, Qualification & Working Conditions:

  • Culinary Arts degree or certification preferred
  • Food manager’s certification required
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in high-volume restaurants
  • Excellent knowledge of food costs, labor, food inventory management, and applicable safety and sanitation procedures
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Purchasing background a plus
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in a warm to hot environment
  • Must be able to withstand walking, standing, stooping and bending for an extended period of time with reasonable accommodation
