IT Hardware & Network Manager

Reports to: Director of Information Technology

Department: Information Technology

Position Type: Full-Time with Benefits

Schedule: This role is mostly Monday – Friday standard hours; however, there will be times on nights or weekends when an employee needs assistance resetting a system or during outages.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Work Environment: Remote or In the Office (depending on the candidate’s desire).

Travel Requirements: Roughly 50% of the time.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Hardware & Software Management

  • Build and implement new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) track all hardware devices and software licenses
  • Work with our vendors to maintain the inventory of tablets and computers
  • Work with IT Director, IT Helpdesk Specialist, Office Admin & Culture Managers, and our Vendor partners to setup networks with printers, scanners, copiers, etc.

IT Network Setup & Management

  • Manage the IT networks throughout all of our offices including hardwired internet, WiFi, FOB key systems, camera systems, etc.
  • Connect printers/ scanners/ TV monitors/ etc. to the networks hardwired whenever possible
  • Remotely monitor and manage the networks, cameras, and FOB key systems

IT Helpdesk Operations

  • Complete IT Helpdesk requests promptly and escalate tickets as needed to the proper person
  • Provide technical end-user IT support via phone, Slack, video calls, and in-person
  • Track all IT Helpdesk tickets and responses in the system for accurate reporting
  • Serves as a first-line resource for the team for technical related processes, communications, and follow-up requests

Other Duties:

  • Create simple short IT training videos to answer frequently asked questions that can be posted on the Employee Intranet and linked to employees when they ask the IT Helpdesk for assistance that can be answered on the FAQ
  • Work with the IT Director to ensure new processes and training initiatives are implemented in a timely and effective manner.
  • Work with IT Director to establish standards and processes for new equipment purchases, such as laptops for employees.
  • To maintain the hardware devices, there would be a need to visit each office at minimum, probably 1-2 times per year to properly inventory, reset, and inspect the networks.
  • Maintain and track the inventory of tablets, laptop computers, desktop computers, monitors, printers, TV screens, etc. This IT storage room will likely be located in our Chicago corporate office.

This would include working in the Chicago office at minimum of 1-2 days per week.

  • Maintain conference room monitors, office monitors, smart boards, printers, scanners, etc. for communal use including creating how-to training videos and tutorials for connecting.

Required Skills:

  • Patience. Our employees are diverse in many ways and have varying levels of expertise when it comes to technology. This person must be patient and eager to help each employee regardless of their current skills.
  • Welcoming. You will be one of the first people every new employee of Advocate will interact with. It is important to convey a friendly, welcoming spirit during the onboarding call especially when the new employee is having challenges understanding technology or getting logged into the various apps, resetting passwords, etc.
  • Tech Savvy. The ability to pick up new technology quickly would be helpful. This role will constantly evolve as our company grows. Navigating Mac & PCs , as well as iOS & Android phones/tablets, will be important as we have employees with all of these.
  • Multitasking/Prioritization. Many calls, tickets, orders, issues, etc. will come up simultaneously. Being able to prioritize your tasks is very important.
  • Willingness to Learn. This role is an integral part of Team Advocate and the person in this role will consistently be learning new software and new systems to better serve the needs of our employees.
  • Initiative. It is very important for this person to be self-motivated and have individual responsibility.

Desired Experience:

  • Must be willing to work different shifts.
  • Experience setting up computer networks, sourcing, purchasing & maintaining IT-related equipment systems, including WiFi networks, hard-wired networks, remote use monitors, CCTV camera systems, electronic FOB key systems is required.
  • Experience in AWS and/or Azure clouds a plus

Requirements

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)


Must be proficient in emailing using Google Business Suite

Must have a smart phone with unlimited minutes, texts, and data plan

Physical Ability Requirements

Must be able to lift and carry up to 70 lbs without assistance

Must be able to carry, setup, teardown, climb, and secure a 20 ft extension ladder

Must be able to work at a computer for long periods of time
