**This position is a split position between PM shifts (2pm to 10pm) and Overnight shifts (10pm - 6am). The hourly rate ranges from $16.50-$22.50 (base plus tips).

As an IRD Order Taker at The Umstead Hotel & Spa, the primary function of this position is to take all orders over telephone or from pre-order forms and enter them into Micros. Order Takers will take guests requests and communicate all information to the servers so they can create a complete dining experience with tasks congruent to Forbes Five Star and AAA Five Diamond Standards of service.

Some of the duties for the Order Taker portion of this position include:

• Records order and time received on ticket to ensure prompt service.
• Suggests menu items, and substitutions for items not available.
• Answers questions regarding food or service.
• Distributes order tickets to servers and records them on the computer.
• Will collect charge vouchers and cash from service and close out checks appropriately.
• Will create a hard copy and computer copy off all food order tray pickups, miscellaneous requests and amenities.
• Maintain constant communication with Guest Relations and Front Desk staff to ensure timely delivery of daily amenities.
• Ensure daily amenity orders have been placed with Culinary and Pastry and check for accuracy and add-ons throughout shift.
• Communicate all relevant information pertaining to guests to Front Office, In Room Dining Captains and Management.
• Relay all guest related issues to Management daily.
• In addition other duties may be required as directed by your manager

As an IRD Server at The Umstead Hotel & Spa, the primary function of this position is to provide all In House Guests with food and beverage service in the privacy of the guest room. Servers will provide a complete dining experience with tasks congruent to Forbes, AAA and Leading Hotels of the World Standards of service.

Some of the duties for the Server portion of this position include:

• Attention to detail is vital to succeed as an In Room Dining server. Each server must take pride in personal appearance to uphold the hotel’s standards.
• Provide service to all In House guests of The Umstead Hotel and Spa with tasks congruent to Forbes and AAA standards.
• Accurate delivery for all orders and amenities.
• Timely retrieval of all dishes, trays and tables (12 minutes max.)
• Daily completion of side work duties.
• Detailed cleaning and stocking of all necessary mise en place for the next shift.
• Set up of the AM Coffee Bar station in the bar and lounge area.
• Detail daily events in the In Room Dining Log and communicate all pertinent information to other hotel outlets.
• Maintain constant communication with Guest Relations and Front Desk staff to ensure timely delivery of daily amenities.
• Ensure daily amenity orders have been placed with Culinary and Pastry and check for accuracy and add-ons throughout shift.
• Communicate all relevant information pertaining to guests to Front Office, In Room Dining Captains and Management.
• Relay all guest related issues to Management daily, and hold line-up with team.
• In addition other duties may be required as directed by your manager

Leadership Requirements:

To be communicative and forthcoming with information vital to service within the Food and Beverage Department, the Hospitality division and all other outlets of The Umstead Hotel and Spa.

Additional Information for Success:

Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required. Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with The Umstead Hotel rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the hotel’s facilities. Employees who violate hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
