Your Opportunity

You will work on tasks independently and under the guidance of a Project Manager. You will help lead the interior design team and work collaboratively with the architectural team, conceptualizing, developing, and documenting varying aspects of interior design of a project, including but not limited to concept design, rendering, space planning, interior architecture, interior materials and palette, specifications, FFE and signage.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize and develop interior design from both a functional and aesthetic perspective in concert with a client’s requirements, budget, and program.
  • Lead the development of the program and other pre-design efforts.
  • Lead visioning workshop discussions and activities with clients to ascertain cultural and practical needs and desires and translate into the built environment.
  • Develop space planning, block planning, and/or adjacency diagrams in coordination with building program.
  • Develop the interior design, material palette and FFE through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats to express the design intent.
  • Utilize BIM technologies in development of three-dimensional models of interiors and their components.
  • Participate in design critiques and pin-ups.
  • Present design ideas and solutions to clients.
  • Work with outside consultants to coordinate drawings sets.
  • Ensure design complies with building codes, ADA guidelines and LEED per project type and requirements.
  • Evaluate and selects interior systems and materials, finishes and fixtures.
  • Coordinate building systems to ensure compatibility with the design intent and implements sustainable design principles.
  • Develop interior design in accordance with cost parameters and ensures interior design intent is maintained through documentation and construction.
  • Complete FFE scope tasks from design and selection through bid, coordinating with vendor and client to ensure cohesive design.
  • Mentor and lead less-senior Interior Design staff.
  • Adherence to Stantec’s required QA/QC process, including design reviews.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the profession and the firm.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Thorough understanding of all phases of architectural document production through construction administration and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to conduct space planning, block planning, and adjacencies in coordination with building program.
  • Ability to develop floor plans, elevations, and details.
  • Ability to lead guide junior staff and take responsibility for accuracy and completeness of documentation.
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting through all phases of document production.
  • Ability to engage in creative and critical thought.
  • Ability to present to client groups and create design solutions that interpret and fulfill the needs of the client.
  • Ability to create concept design ideas in rendering software, ie. Sketch-Up, Revit, Rino, Enscape etc.
  • Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, building program and other similar material and communicate abstract ideas (verbal/written).
  • Thorough knowledge and application of accessibility codes and applicable building codes.
  • Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD; Prefer experience with Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Newforma, and Bluebeam.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Interior Design or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Interior Design field. Work experience in the following sectors: retail, multi-family, workplace, and commercial.
  • NCIDQ preferred.

Salary Range(s):

  • $38.94 Per Hour - $58.37 Per Hour (CA, CO locations only)

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
