Job description
This position is a full-time (9 month) faculty position teaching courses in Mathematics pending funding.
On-campus teaching is required and teaching assignments may include day, evening, online, hybrid, blended, or NCIH broadcast sections. This instructor will be expected to deliver high-quality instruction, provide supplemental materials to enhance textbooks and lessons, and use effective evaluation methods to measure student performance. Additionally, the instructor will participate in course and curriculum design, maintain accurate attendance and grade records, collect and submit data from student learning outcomes and assessments, hold weekly office hours, serve on college committees, advise and register college transfer students, and fulfill all instructional-related duties and responsibilities in a timely manner.
Location Washington, NC Full-Time/Part-Time Full Time Type of Position Faculty Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in Mathematics or a Master’s degree in a related discipline with 18 graduate hours in Mathematics from a regionally accredited institution.
Preferred Qualifications
Successful teaching experience in a community/technical college or similar post-secondary institution. Experience teaching seated, hybrid, and online courses. Working knowledge of Blackboard, Self-Service, and Aviso.
Essential Duties
1. Exhibit an understanding and acceptance of the “open door” philosophy of Beaufort County Community College.
2. Instruct courses assigned with adherence to published student learning outcomes.Incorporate innovative and creative teaching techniques where desirable.
3. Develop and distribute syllabi to students for each course taught.
4. Be responsible for administrative aspects relating to attendance, FTE reports, end-of-semester reports, posting grades, and submitting book orders to Lead Instructor.
5. Advise students in college transfer programs, assist students with registration, and monitor advisee’s academic progress.
6. Maintain a high, current level of subject matter by becoming involved in professional organizations and attending professional meetings.
7. Present any problems, suggestions, and recommendations for improving academic services to the Lead Instructor or Dean.
8. Encourage student use of campus resources such as Learning Enhancement Center, Tutor.com, Trio, etc.
9. Refer all students to Student Services who are scholastically deficient, consistently absent and tardy, or in need of counseling.
10. Fulfilling other responsibilities as assigned by the Lead Instructor, Division Dean, VPAA, etc.
FLSA Exempt Estimated Hours per Week 40 (A minimum of 30 of those to be worked on campus.) Salary Based on college salary plan and commensurate with education and relevant work experience
