Job Summary:
The HVAC Counter Sales Associates at Johnstone Grimme Group work alongside a compact team of 5-15 crew members within one of our branches. The Counter Sales Representative ensures efficient operations of the branch and is responsible for various duties such as establishing customer relationships, suggestive selling, filling orders, selling properly matched HVAC equipment, and limited telephone marketing. This position requires the ability to meet monthly and annual sales goals. Inside Sales Representatives leverage educating customers on new products, offering hi-efficiency equipment, and building customized rebate and pricing programs to promote customer growth.

Essential Functions:
- Develop meaningful relationships with customers to encourage trust and loyalty
- Understand and demonstrate the product or service to the customer
- Determines customer replacement HVAC/R parts according to inspection and/or verbal description
- Research and source products for customers using a computer, catalog, telephone, or any other resources to meet or exceed customer needs
- Recognizes products commonly purchased by customers and resolves issues
- Recognizes and identifies HVAC/R parts and equipment to fulfill customer needs and answer questions
- Provide an exceptional level of customer service
- Has a sales-focused mindset to increase revenue while maintaining profitability
- Enters sales orders into the computer system
- Balances cash drawers create credit invoices, processes pick/pack orders, and will-call
- Maintains a professional image of Johnstone Supply by ensuring an exceptional customer shopping experience
- Stays informed of new products and utilize opportunities to educate self, co-workers, and customers
- Processes customer returns and warranties
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent Customer Service Skills
- Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills
- Detail Orientated
- Excellent time management skills
- General knowledge of inventory systems (knowledge of RF-based systems a plus)
- Skill in using web-based tools to research products and information
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or a G.E.D. is required
- Vocational School Degree/Certificate, Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field (a plus)
- General knowledge of HVAC products, concepts, and the industry as a whole (a plus)
- 2 years of experience as a Sales and/or Service Associate in HVAC or similar industry (a plus)
- Technical Diploma in HVAC/R and at least 2 years of work experience in the HVAC/R field (a plus)
- Proficient computer skills (MS Word or Excel or similar software-related programs)
- Must be able to comprehend business math calculations and run a point-of-sale terminal
Physical Demands:
- Lifting, moving, and carrying up to 50 pounds
- Ability to operate a forklift
- Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time
- Ability to climb stairs/ladders
- Ability to push/pull inventory items
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and occasionally crawl in confined spaces
