Job description

The Florida Dept of Children and Families needs a Human Services Counselor III. This position provides case management to vulnerable adults who meet income requirements. The counselor also provides Protective Supervision to the same population without regard to income.

**Will be reporting to office daily**

Pay Rate $16.24/hr
Hours: M-F 8-5

TRAVEL: 50%, DCF will reimburse mileage directly
AREA OF TRAVEL: Counties: Columbia, Union, Suwannee, Hamilton and may even cover Clay and Baker.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Performs scheduled service visits and contacts to complete or update care plans, assess or reassess service needs, and to define or redefine service goals, in accordance with programmatic policies and guidelines. Attends court hearings, as scheduled. Interviews new applicants and evaluates them for services. Provides and/or arranges services, as needed through the case management process. Coordinates services for clients with other appropriate agencies and resources.

Completes and processes required paperwork related to the opening, closing. updating, and provision of services to clients; including CIS, HCDA, OSS, CCDA, court documents, and other program-related forms. Maintains case records according to program policies, including documentation of activities. Compiles and submits productivity reports, as required. Completes and submits mileage and leave/attendance forms, as required. Maintains community resource information.

Responds to telephone inquiries and requests for assistance, providing information, referral, counseling, and arranging appointments. Contacts community resources to identify and develop sources of assistance.

SKILLS NEEDED:

Must possess a valid State of Florida Driver's License

Knowledge of theories in counseling or social work, how to operate a personal computer, professional ethics relating to counseling or social work, interviewing techniques, ability to provide counseling or social services, coordinate a team approach to the rehabilitation process, coordinate service delivery with a variety of community agencies located within the county.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Physical Requirements: The incumbent is required to drive to multiple locations to conduct interviews, provide counseling, and direct services to clients. Driving will be on an intermittent basis for up to 8-hours per day but may require longer hours in certain cases. Other physical tasks associated with this position include extensive use of the telephone, writing, typing, pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying file folder, walking, climbing stairs, and use of a personal computer. Ergonomic chairs and workstations have been provided to enable the incumbent to perform this job.
