MILWAUKEE MITCHELL INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
HEATING AND VENTILATING MECHANIC 1
Hourly Salary Range: $22.62 - $26.26

JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, to Maintain, repair and operate the HVAC systems at General Mitchell International Airport. Maintain standards for comfort and safety as per building codes and Health Department requirements.

JOB DUTIES:
  • Maintain and repair HVAC equipment. Maintain and repair HVAC and other mechanical equipment related to the building systems.
  • Inspect and monitor equipment for proper functioning. Inspect and monitor equipment for proper functioning. Perform preventative maintenance or plan repairs as needed. Monitor and treat system water to maintain proper chemical levels.
  • Keep records. Calibrate equipment. Keep records of maintenance work performed.
  • Monitor and adjust HVAC system utilizing building management software.
  • Assist Tradesmen perform jobs. Assist Steamfitters, Plumbers and Electricians perform maintenance and repairs of HVAC and related equipment.
  • Keep worksite and shop areas clean and organized. Clean equipment rooms and equipment. Keep shop areas clean and organized.
  • Maintain inventory of parts. Maintain inventory of filters, belts, bearings and other commonly needed parts.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Current State of Wisconsin resident
  • Possession of a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Possession of a valid Wisconsin drivers at time of application and maintained during incumbency
  • Two (2) years of experience in mechanical repair and maintenance preferably with Central Plant and HVAC.
  • Specialized training in repair of HVAC equipment
  • Appointee must meet the requirements to obtain an Airport Security Badge.
  • Appointee must receive an Airport Class 2 Driver’s license within 10 days of appointment.
  • The ability to lift/carry up to 60lbs; push/pull up to 60lbs. on a frequent basis.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of the tools, materials and methods used in the maintenance and repair of heating, ventilating, air conditioning and mechanical systems: knowledge of the properties of metals; knowledge of plumbing; knowledge of hydro-pneumatics and electricity; ability to keep records of maintenance inspections; skill in calibrating thermostats; ability to braze, weld, solder and bend sheet metal; ability to read and understand drawings of mechanical equipment and systems; ability to measure accurately using rulers, calipers, gauges and other measuring instruments; ability to operate mechanical lifting devices; ability to operate computer equipment used to monitor, adjust and control HVAC units; ability to work effectively and harmoniously with others.
