Head Custodian
RESPONSIBLE TO:
School Principal and Maintenance Director
JOB CLASSIFICATION:
Classified Position. 240 day Employee-At-Will
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Supervising and carrying out assignments given by the school principal directly or through the Maintenance Director with regards to providing a clean and healthy environment in the areas of housekeeping and grounds in the school to which he/she is assigned.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
- Supervision and involvement in the cleaning and scrubbing of floors and walls in rooms, halls, bathrooms, and cafeteria.
- Supervision and involvement in the lifting and moving of equipment.
- Supervision and involvement in the changing of light bulbs as needed.
- Supervision and involvement in keeping grounds clean of paper and debris.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by the school principal directly or through the Maintenance Director or system-wide maintenance supervisor.
- Serves as direct supervisor for all building custodians.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience:
A minimum of five (5) years of work in a related field. Prefer one or more years of custodial supervisory experience.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
- Knowledge of use of cleaning equipment and materials.
- Ability to perform duties that may require lifting heavy objects.
- Demonstrated ability to train other custodians on equipment and cleaning procedures.
- Basic computer skills required for email communications and materials ordering.
Work Environment:
- Exposure to sharp objects and vibrating equipment
- Subject to fumes from cleaning chemicals in solutions, aerosols and powder forms
