In this role, the Grinder Operator will set up, grind and inspect carbide material according to work details and precision tool design specifications. After grinding, each piece will be inspected visually and by using inspection equipment to ensure the quality of the tool meets the customer's print.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set-up and operate grinding machines
- Grind carbide material for cutting tools
- Use various types of precision inspection equipment including micrometers, dial calipers, etc.
- Must conform to and participate in Fives Safety Culture.
REQUIRED DUTIES:
- Utilize the proper tools, equipment, and gauges to maintain safety, quality, and production requirements
- Maintain good housekeeping practices
- Follow Standard Operating ProceduresBasic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required
- Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and other technical documents
- Manual dexterity is required for operating tools and equipment
- Ability to handle up to 25 pounds required
- Some daily and weekend overtime may be required
- Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIRED SAFETY EQUIPMENT: Safety glasses
Education and Experiences
- High school diploma or GED
- Mathematical and mechanical aptitude
- Grinding or machining experience a plus
- Strong attention to details
- Must be able to stand for the entire shift
- Ability to use hands and fingers, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
- Self-starter and highly motivated
- Excellent time management
- Punctual and strong work ethic
