The National Systems Group serves as the technical adviser to the Intelligence Community and its mission partners involved in the collection and distribution of national and tactical intelligence, including electronics programs, advanced technologies, ground and communications, imagery programs, and systems engineering and launch.

The GEOINT Development Office (GDO) under the National Systems Group (NSG) serves as the technical adviser to the government's national intelligence electro-optical programs. The Systems Engineering department within GDO uses a wide range of Aerospace core competencies and expertise to support program objectives along the system lifecycle. Systems Engineering's strategic focus is applying strong systems engineering approaches and knowledge of mission to provide sound and objective technical recommendations and solutions. As a GEOINT Systems Engineering - Senior Project Leader, you will work closely with the customer and colleagues to effectively lead matrix engineering in support of existing and new generation systems.

This position requires 100% on site work in Chantilly.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Leading technical diverse teams, providing guidance to government customers and contractors at a system-level to plan enterprise-wide missions, assess risks and enable sound decision making.
  • Provide technical leadership through program life cycle stages from acquisition addressing Assembly, Integration and Test activities through launch and operations for a complex system
  • Assess the design, build and test activities for payload and bus hardware with a focus on system integration and interoperability. Collaborate closely with the disciplines of Flight Sciences, Specialty Engineering, Parts, Materials and Processes.
  • Investigate urgent technical problems and failures, assembling major briefings as well as conducting independent long-range technical and programmatic studies for challenging and often complex problems
  • Develop, refine and assess mission conops, requirements, test programs and integration plans
  • Lead cross-organizational teams of Aerospace ETG SMEs to provide the customer with technical reach-back for issue resolution, independent assessments of technical performance and review contractor developed artifacts
  • Provided daily organization and technical oversight for task execution, regularly communicating status and findings customers and management.
  • Serve as mentor to SETA, Aerospace, and Customer representatives as they learn technical aspects of program execution

What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
  • Undergraduate degree in engineering, science, mathematics, or related field
  • Experience in a systems engineering, and/or program management environment
  • Recognized successful leadership of mission-level analysis and architecting activities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Willing to travel domestically
  • This position requires a current and active TS/SCI security clearance and polygraph, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

  • Advanced degree in engineering, science, mathematics, or related field
  • Typically requires 12 or more years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/technical experience.
  • Expertise in visible and infrared (IR) electro-optics sensors
  • Experience with, and understanding of, Aerospace customers and business
  • Experience with satellite system acquisition, including system assembly, integration, test and failure analysis
  • Familiarity with program management, budget programming, requirements, and acquisition processes
  • Prior experience working in an engineering matrix that supports program office and customer senior leadership
  • Communication with a broad range of customers, technologists, program managers, system engineers, and senior government leaders
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, adapt quickly to change, and demonstrate initiative.
