Fund Accountant, Senior Associate

Overview:

We are a real estate investment firm that specializes in multi-family equity, net lease equity, and real estate private credit nationwide. We are currently seeking a talented and bright Senior Associate Accountant to support our debt strategy. Our ideal candidate is a detail oriented, driven, and efficient individual with strong Excel skills. Our growing, young firm offers an exciting environment with tremendous potential and great flexibility. While the role is a hybrid of work from home and occasionally in office, there is from time to time the occasional participation in events at our offices in Sugarhouse where you attendance will be required. We will consider candidates from outside of our area provided they are willing to relocate without assistance.

Position Description:

Sundance Bay is currently seeking a Senior Fund Accountant to join the Fund Accounting team. The Senior Fund Accountant will support the day-to-day accounting and financial statements of the Firm’s fund partnership vehicles focused on Real Estate investments. The Senior Fund Accountant will review the work of the fund administrators and work closely with the Real Estate Fund Accounting, Monitoring and Reporting teams as well as provide support to the Real Estate Investment team.

Essential Functions:

This hands-on, detail-oriented position will:

  • Prepare and review calculations of investor cash flow activity including capital call and distribution notices
  • Track daily cash activity, including setting up wire payments and daily cash projections
  • Calculate management and performance fees
  • Assist in the preparation quarterly unaudited and annual audited financial statements in accordance with GAAP / IFRS
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly performance reporting
  • Understand partnership agreements and interpret reporting requirements and partner economics
  • Correspond with Corporate Accounting / Partners regarding accounting/reporting questions, or comment
  • Support various fund administrators and coordinate delivery of required reporting, etc.
  • Prepare workpapers and supporting documentation for the annual financial statement audit
  • Compute and review partner allocations and produce capital account statements
  • Support the investment team in the closing of transactions, including responding to information requests, review of allocations, review of reporting requirements and other support and analysis as needed
  • Respond to investor requests in a professional and timely manner
  • Calculate distribution waterfalls and carried interest
  • Support the set-up of new domestic and foreign entities including obtaining EIN, GIIN, tax filings and bank accounts
  • Assist tax department with Fund and investor K-1s review and various tax payments

Perform other duties as requested or as responsibilities dictate

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability Requirements:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently, but contribute in a team-oriented environment
  • Strong Microsoft Excel experience
  • Ability to multi-task and manage priorities against key deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Education and Experience Requirements:

CPA preferred

Must possess a four-year college degree with a major in Accounting

Two to four years of private equity partnership or real estate fund accounting experience

Previous experience with Real Estate accounting, Investment Company Accounting and ASC 820 (FAS 157) Required

Perform other duties as requested or as responsibilities dictate
