The "Sierra Blue Suites" concept was imagined by the visionaries at Sierra Blue Ventures and was transformed into a unique destination hotel experience as one of the original rest stops of the historic Pacific Crest Trail. We feature a selection of suites, studios and hotel style rooms in the heart of the downtown Big Bear Lake, CA, nestled in the San Bernardino National Forest

The renovation for our first phase of guest rooms was completed in 2021 and improvements to our public areas is ongoing. Be apart of something new and exciting.

Job Description:

The front desk agent is primarily responsible for providing all of a hotel’s guests with an accommodating experience by coordinating amenities and responding to customer needs. Their duties include greeting people as they arrive on property, fielding calls from guests, and helping visitors check into their rooms as well as any assignments assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.
  • Must work well in stressful high-pressure situations.
  • Computer knowledge: Basic knowledge of computers is required as a Front Desk Agent. The Front Desk agent will often use computers to check in guests, create invoices and manage online bookings.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and nonverbal communication skills are important as a Front Desk Agent. Front Desk Agents will use active listening skills to understand the individual needs of each customer. They will also use nonverbal skills to identify a guest’s satisfaction or dissatisfaction with their stay.
  • Customer service: Front Desk Agents work with guests when checking in, checking out and when guests request information from the front desk, as such communication skills are a must.
  • Problem-solving: Guests will often come to the front desk with problems. The ability to identify and overcome a problem can be useful in the Front Desk role.
  • Accountability in maintaining inventory and processing payments.
  • Physical ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Check in customers using computer programs and equipment and provide guests with directions to their room.
  • Inform customers of all on-site amenities and any relevant information that is needed to use them.
  • Handle and resolve guest complaints.
  • Invoice and bill guests for their stay and services used.
  • Communicate with guests to better understand their individual needs to provide them with the best service possible.
  • Verify identification and age requirements of customers.
  • Build a rapport with regular customers to create a positive atmosphere.
  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly service-oriented manner.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with employment standards as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming which include wearing the proper uniform and name tag when working (per brand standards).
  • Comply at all times with hotel standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Perform other tasks/jobs as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
